I suppose we are going to hear about Mohammid Ali all morning.

I remember when he was Cassius Clay “I am the greatest!”

I also recall that Vietnam debacle as me and my first husband were right in the midst of it.

It was a war fought by politicos and last week President Obama went to Vietnam and hailed them as victors.

They only “won” because America gave up, although we probably should have.

Do you know that there is a public memorial to a shot down American plane (the actual plane itself!) in the middle of its big city?

Saw it on Amazing Race, couldn’t believe my eyeballs.

Still and so, Ali was no big hero but he was colorful.

The entire MTP panel including former Romney advisor Lanhee Chee, Donna Edwards, Fournier, Andrea Mitchell, and Chuckie have vapors because Mitch McConnell is all-in about winning the Presidency. Chee said we should forget about winning this cycle.

I’m speechless

Trump lets the press get away with the claim that he objects to the judge because of the judge's Mexican heritage. I don't think that is Trump's position, but that is what he says. This morning he is more or less sticking to it.

I think Trump's position is that this particular judge, with Mexican heritage, is so much against Trump's build-the-wall and no illegal immigration policy positions, that this particular judge with Mexican heritage is not impartial toward Trump.

But that is not what he says.

The press isn't very skilled at teasing this out. It could ask "Is there any judge with Mexican heritage that you would accept?" But, it has confirmation bias, in that it assumes Trump is racist, so whatever objection he has, has a racist motivation.

Clinton is actually going to submit to a couple of interviews. Naturally, ABC and CNN aren’t exactly like entering the lions den, more like the petting zoo.

So, they're showing oral sex on live TeeVee now?

Trump does not start with the premise that the Mexican judge cannot be a bigot because he is Mexican. That is exactly what this judge is if he belongs to or defends La Raza (The Race).

Watching Stephy interviewing Corker who is doing a lousy job of defending Trump. What can you expect of someone who voted for the Gang of 8 bill.

It’s not that difficult for Trump to point out the Judge’s connection to La Raza and an example or two of actions by the court that are biased. Also, in agreement with Newt, I would parade a half dozen Trump University grads that endorse the courses and have been successful.

“Ali refused to be inducted into the armed forces, stating that he had “no quarrel with them Vietcong”. “My conscience won’t let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn’t put no dogs on me, they didn’t rob me of my nationality, rape or kill my mother and father.... How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail.”

Aligning himself with the Nation of Islam, its leader Elijah Muhammad, and a narrative that labeled the white race as the perpetrator of genocide against African Americans made Ali a target of public condemnation. The NOI was widely viewed by whites and even some African Americans as a black separatist “hate religion” with a propensity toward violence; Ali had few qualms about using his influential voice to speak NOI doctrine. In a press conference articulating his opposition to the Vietnam War, Ali stated, “my enemy is the white people, not the Vietcong”.

In relation to integration, he said: “We who follow the teachings of Elijah Muhammad don’t want to be forced to integrate. Integration is wrong. We don’t want to live with the white man; that’s all.” And in relation to inter-racial marriage: “No intelligent black man or black woman in his or her right black mind wants white boys and white girls coming to their homes to marry their black sons and daughters.” Indeed, Ali’s religious beliefs at the time included the notion that the white man was “the devil” and that white people were not “righteous”.

Ali registered for the draft on his eighteenth birthday and was listed as 1-A in 1962. In 1964, he was reclassified as 1-Y (fit for service only in times of national emergency) after two mental tests found his IQ was 78 (16th percentile), well below the armed force’s 30th-percentile threshold. (He was quoted as saying, “I said I was the greatest, not the smartest!” By early 1966, the army lowered its standards to permit soldiers above the 15th percentile and Ali was again classified as 1-A. This classification meant he was now eligible for the draft and induction into the United States Army during a time when the U.S. was involved in the Vietnam War.

When notified of this status, Ali declared that he would refuse to serve in the Army and publicly considered himself a conscientious objector. Ali stated: “War is against the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. I’m not trying to dodge the draft. We are not supposed to take part in no wars unless declared by Allah or The Messenger. We don’t take part in Christian wars or wars of any unbelievers.

On June 28, 1971, the Supreme Court in Clay v. United States overturned Ali’s conviction by a unanimous 8–0 decision (Justice Thurgood Marshall did not participate). The decision was not based on, nor did it address, the merits of Ali’s claims per se; rather, the Court held that since the Appeal Board gave no reason for the denial of a conscientious objector exemption to Ali, and that it was therefore impossible to determine which of the three basic tests for conscientious objector status offered in the Justice Department’s brief that the Appeals Board relied on, Ali’s conviction must be reversed.

This thing could be real timely and cause the clinton mob some true grief. Along with the FBI primary could spell some particularly trying times for the hildabeast and her dog Bubba.

On the other hand, Trump will be badgered about Judge Curiel. They’ll try to paint the guy as a poor Mexican saint, and that the La Raza Lawyer’s Association is totally different than the National Council of La Raza (much like the Ku Klux Klan Lawyer’s Association is totally unrelated and unlike the Ku Klux Klan.)

That closeted liberal Michael Meds brought up this point when one of his callers started arguing with him on support for Trump. Meds is a "Never Trumper".

The entire am band needs to be purged of these "conservatives", so-called.

For sure. Especially when you look at the numbers of the foundation. Hundreds of millions coming their way with little if anything going to charity. Much of it pay for play stuff that is all too obvious and basically in your face saying come and get me if you dare. Finally the Clinton mob copies obama.

The Media think they have finally got him this time.

The more the media attacks, and the more Mexican flags waved in our faces, the STRONGER MY FAMILY'S SUPPORT OF TRUMP.

Those weasel mouthed GOPeers need to just exit stage right and go away forever. I believe TRUMP is running a third party campaign from within the GOPee party just like the "SOCIALIST" Sanders is running his third party (Socialist) campaign from within the RAT party.

I know. But that is the premise that the press is advancing.

As far as I can tell, Trump would have the same complaint against the judge, if the judge did not have Mexican heritage, but was aligned with the objectives of LaRaza, and opposed to Trump's immigration and border policies.

Of course he is running a third party campaign inside the GOP and they hate it. For them to have to mingle with all of the riff raff irritates them to no end.

I remember when he was Cassius Clay “I am the greatest!”

And I also. Do these folk have to go to court to change their name or do they a have "special class" of religious liberty that is not available to Christians?
