Well, you rabid Duterte fanboys (or "Dutertards" i.e. "Duterte" + "Retards", as they are contemptuously called in the Philippines) what do you have to say about your idol now? The rabidly Anti-American (they have killed American servicemen stationed in the Philippines) communist bandits, the New People's Army have apparently now become the Duterte's personal and private alternative to the actual Philippine government. Ironically, the NPA have in recent years actually gradually become irrelevant as their numbers have dropped, ever fewer young people nowadays want to literally go up into the jungles in the mountains in the remote provinces to become rebel guerillas, like they did in the 1970's-1990's. It's only Duterte who is attempting to revive them.

Assuming he’s being above board and not supporting an alternative agenda, he’s saying that if you’re corrupt and are involved in activities that have made Filipino’s life more difficult so you can enrich yourself, you’re on your own.

I don’t have a problem with that sort of policy. The Philippine government doesn’t have the money or support to try and save everybody from the rebels.

I'm glad that Duterte is not negotiating with terrorists. They will get no money for this drug-dealing bastard. They will most likely let him go or give him a quick send-off.

Either way is OK by me.

When your enemies are killing each other don’t stop them.

American Middle Eastern policy took a really wrong turn with Henry Kissinger.

It appears to be another hit job by the Duterte opponrnys.

I would say "welcome to FreeRepublic", but I'd wager this is a banned retread posting this drivel. My question is why post this on FreeRepublic? What narrative is trying to be accomplished?

I live in Davao City. Yesterday, President-elect Duterte was celebrating with friends at the "Crocodile Park", a local attraction with lots of wide open spaces. He repeated his threat to KILL the drug dealers and criminals. He doesn't want to jail them and carry that extra expense. He has offered his left-over campaign funds to reward those taking out these undesirables.

I am not a proponent or opponent. As a "foreigner" here, we are prohibited from political activity of any kind, upon threat of expulsion. I plan to live a long life here with my sweet Filipina wife. Duterte has a mandate from the election, gaining more than 6 million votes more than the second place establishment guy. He is there because he is unabashed in his desire to rid the criminals and corruption from the country.

But Mr Duterte has always been unapologetic about his methods.

“I admit I am 100 per cent terrorist but I am terrorising only the drug pushers, kidnappers, hold-up gangs and other criminals,” he said on TV in 2003. “Kidnappers, drug pushers from other places, I dare you to come over here so that I can finish you off.” ...

He won handily, so there aren’t that many people who have contempt for his supporters.

I am a rabid Duterte fan boy, and a Davao City resident. The murderers, rapists, child molesters, drug dealers, and other assorted scum bags have been put on notice. Their days are numbered. He helped rid Davao City of the low lifes. He will simply extend that. Good for him.

Yes, amazing how some freepers will run for a hardline Leftist just because he killed a few street kids.

As to the allegations, the NPA have massive blood on their hands and probably are lying about this Police Chief. Either that or they are mad he is moving in on their drug trade.

In some circumstances, you deal with base problems before you can move up. It’s better to deal with violence and poverty before you deal with conservative tax reform, for example.

Liza translated for me ...

Who can not like this guy ?

Here in the US .... I'm looking forward to The Trump News agency and channel Trump on TV

I was thinking today as I drove home from some shopping ... Trump was elected ... (well, in MY mind he's ALREADY President) .... by the news media

Everywhere he went, there were news outlets following him like rabid dogs and the next day there were 5 different, mostly negative, articles about Donald Trump

Then Trump would have the video clip aired and he'd be vindicated

President Duterte is no different

Everywhere he went, there were reporters blasting what a murderous animal he is ... and then the actual quotes would come out in perspective

I REALLY want to see global news after these two are in Presidential office at the same time

Our own United States is the result of a number of men born at the same time, coming together to formulate a free nation

History is fascinating

I don't think what happens in the PI is comparable to the US. As all who have or currently live there know life is cheap, Sabu is even cheaper.

I am willing to give the guy a chance...

He won 38% of the vote in a 5 man race....
