Paul Ryan says he’ll vote for Donald Trump
Inland News Today ^ | June 2, 2016 | The New York Times

Speaker Paul D. Ryan endorsed Donald J. Trump for president on Thursday, finally giving his backing after weeks of reluctance to the man who ran against the party’s establishment, of which Mr. Ryan is the titular leader.

In a column on GazetteXtra.com, Mr. Ryan made clear he believed that Mr. Trump was the best candidate to help establish the agenda that he himself wants to get through Congress. A spokesman for Mr. Ryan, Brendan Buck, wrote on Twitter that the column constituted an endorsement.

He has spoken to Mr. Trump numerous times, Mr. Ryan wrote in the column, and they met in a widely publicized sit-down in Washington a few weeks ago.

“Through these conversations, I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people’s lives,” Mr. Ryan wrote. “That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall.”

“It’s no secret that he and I have our differences,” he continued. “I won’t pretend otherwise. And when I feel the need to, I’ll continue to speak my mind. But the reality is, on the issues that make up our agenda, we have more common ground than disagreement.”(continued)

Too late. Ryan’s reluctance to enthusiastically endorse Trump right away was disgusting. The disloyal are noticed and will answer for their disloyalty after President Trump is sworn in.

Did I know he would come around? Yes. Did he know he would come around? Yes.

What exactly did he or any of the good guys gain from his foot-dragging?

There are some half-wits in DC. There’s your trouble.

I put some money on that by contributing to Nehlen last month. I am very selective in my political support checks; and I've gladly selected his WI primary race to, as you say, Cantor him. All the way from AZ I fired that little shot.

He thinks he’s a big show now that he’s speaker.

I bumped into him once, at a gun show in northern Virginia. He had a protective detail and Ken Cuccinelli (VA Gubernatorial candidate at the time) was with him.

Everybody kind of just ignored him. The protective detail were doing their job, but you could tell that getting to go to a gun show on company time kind of tickled them.

He was about the last person in the world I expected to see when I rounded the corner, I didn’t speak to him.

I wouldn’t believe it unless I saw it for myself. He seems more like a Hillary or Bernie guy to me.

We were in New Orleans for a short vacation several years ago when I ran into my then governor, Haley Barbour and popped over to shake his hand. He and his detail almost acted like I was about to shoot him. He was on his way to a quasi “Tea Party” rally nearby.

“He’ll be Cantored by the time the election rolls around.”

That is far from succeeding according to recent polls.

And now he has leaned in for Trump, so he will be secure I believe.

When Trump called Bobby Knight to take him up on his offer to campaign with Trump, coach said “ I have been expecting your call”.

I am sure Trump said that to Rino Ryan.

But really who cares about Rino Ryan or what he does.

Will even one more person vote Trump because this lightweight Ryan finally said the magic words.

And besides it was a backhanded endorsement with a snarky comment about Trump’s Tone>

I’ve always thought Ryan didn’t need to endorse Trump, just support he party’s nominee, in keeping with the “pledge” all of them agreed to sign, and forced Trump to sign.

I’m pretty sure his endorsement means little to the majority of Republicans, I couldn’t care less, but I do think he should have dropped the political squabbles and simply said he would support the party nominee from day one.

Now all the rest who have refused to keep their pledge need to step up to the plate. They would certainly be blasting trump if he didn’t...

With this mealy-mouthed endorsement Ryan can still go to hell with his buddy Mitch McConnell.
