McConnell: System would constrain Trump (he will suddenly remember how to check executive power!)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will support Donald Trump and thinks the business mogul can win the presidency, the Kentucky Republican tells "CBS Sunday Morning."

To people afraid of a Trump presidency, McConnell sees protections in the system to prevent mistakes by the White House occupant.

"What protects us in this country against big mistakes being made is the structure, the Constitution, the institutions," McConnell tells Jan Crawford. "No matter how unusual a personality may be who gets elected to office, there are constraints in this country. You don't get to do anything you want to. So I'm very optimistic about America. I'm not depressed about the nature of the debate."

I presume you are aware of McConnell’s strange military record. This is the event in the past I am referring to. As strange as it is, there must be more.

The effect of blackmail and bribery in American politics today is highly underrated. How else can one explain the behavior of our officials?

There are more barrels of Kentucky Bourbon aging in the state than there are people.
Mitch is doing he best to consume as much of that as he can.

I understand that. But you have to understand that the Liberals will try every trick in the book to keep Obama’s edicts from being rolled back. Part of that will be questioning what we think cannot be questioned.

McConnell doesn’t seem to care that the current president has no respect for the constitution.

Congressmen and Senators support or oppose policy for one reason only - doing so makes them personally wealthy. They will go along with whatever keeps the money rolling in to their personal bank accounts. They couldn’t give crap one whether it is good for the country...is it good for their bottom line is their only consideration.

Prostitutes have higher morals and do more good for their clients than McConnell does for his constituents or the American people.

Ginsburg and Sotomeyer have been providing political commentary to news organizations, Roberts has swung some votes Obama’s way not based on Constitutionality but based on evolving standards of one particular party — the Progressives.

So the Judicial system is already degenerating into a pawn of politics with willing members. SCOTUS isn’t defending the rights of American Citizens, It’s pushing the Federal Agenda.

“Republicans” as a group the most dishonest, corrupt and two faced a party that has ever existed. Now they remember how the rein in the President. The turtle is an ass and goes to great lengths to prove it daily. Actually says he knows how to rein in the President, how convenient NOW!

And these jackasses wonder how Trump is kicking their collective asses. Just how stupid can they be???????

For some reason, the rules are ALWAYS different for Democrats. Lately, the rules for everyone else are being applied differently to Democrats.

Just to add to your expression of frustration, which I share: Why do these bozos only now find voice to complain? Don't they realize how feckless they sound? Aren't they aware that what they say reveals more about themselves than DT?

The questions are all rhetorical—politicians of the uniparty are all afraid that DT is going to pull the comfy cushion from under their fat behinds. The fact that he'll stir the pot is reason enough to vote for him.

Mitch, then how about using those same restraints on the current president? Huh? That’s what I thought you would say, so now go lay down before you hurt yourself.

I could wrong but there will likely be some Trump supporters here cheering loudly if Trump starts to play loose with the Constitution.

I think that a good President, with good leadership skills, can 'do his job' without violating the law

If Trump wins the presidency, he effectively becomes the head of the RNC.

Watch for him to start to play fastball with the funding these guys get for their own campaigns.

In which case, they will start to maneuver publicly against Trump to fund-raise, and Lord knows there are plenty of folks who will give to anti-Trump Republicans.

Also, I suspect these same morons will begin talking about the power of impeachment as soon as Trump is elected, a word they didn’t know the meaning of for all of Obama’s eight years.

The turtle has been hiding in his shell.

To Mitch: It would have been ‘nice’ had you attempted this concept as the Magic Mulatto successfully took apart this great country...you remember, America?, the same nation in which your grandchildren will attempt to live and raise their families. Please, go stand in the middle of a highly traveled road as life passes you by.
