Donald Trump has a simple formula to get America's energy industry back on its feet: regulate less and start drilling a lot more for oil and gas.
In his first in-depth speech about energy policy, Trump on Thursday promised to make American energy "dominance" a strategic economic and foreign policy goal of the U.S.
"America's incredible energy potential remains untapped. It's a wound that is totally self-inflected," Trump said during a speech at a North Dakota oil industry conference.

Energy independence is a good thing. We can stockpile then sell to other countries. I liked Trump’s idea about America getting a slice of the profits for the oil flowing from Canada to the Texas/LA coast. Seems only fair just as those who live in Alaska get a taste of the oil profits there.
Hopefully, I think Trump plans on scrapping the EPA. Environmental issues should be addressed at the state level.

That sounds great and all, but American oil is not cost competitive with Middle Eastern Oil, and as long as there’s a natural gas glut, coal is an uneconomical fuel. Trump has not explained how his plan will address that economic fact.
No wonder the establishment hates Trump.
Less regulation means they lose control of higher prices and bigger profits.
"Drill more" drives the cost DOWN by elevating the supply and lowering the cost.
Plunk your money down. Just don’t spend mine trying to do it. I don’t subscribe to a “we” policy in energy. Fracking was an I and me endeavor private individuals spending private capital. Same way it should be for syn fuels.
Make Sarah the Interior Secretary. Lump all of the alphabet appendages under it like EPA, Energy, Transportation, yadda, yadda and start cutting all of the duplication and parallel agencies. The security of being a government employee needs to go the way of the Dodo bird. She has already stated if made Energy Secretary, hers would be the shortest term in history because she would close it immediately.

Just a quick look at history can answer that question. Think of Werner Von Braun and then think of July 20, 1969. Think of the Me-262 and then think of a F-18 Super Hornet.
The reality is that Americans WILL improve anything as long as the government gets the H out of the way!
Well, I’d certainly like to know what it’s costing the US tax payer to protect Saudi oil fields. Years ago, I heard someone say you should add $100.00USD to each barrel of Saudi oil. That was some 10+ years ago.
Just use coal as coal.
The technology for clean use of coal in a modern coal-fired station is extremely good these days.
I like the idea of having more options.And yea,if the government would just get out of the way things would be great.

It’s common on this forum to talk about oil and gas as if it some sort of treasure that we all have in common. But it is not. Real people risk their own money to discover, pump, refine, and distribute this stuff. They should be free to sell it as they see fit. If you haven’t invested your own money in helping develop coal-to-gas then you have answered your own question.
