South Africa’s parliament has approved a bill allowing the government to expropriate land in the public interest.
The new measure will allow a compulsory purchase of lands and give more ownership to blacks.
As a result of colonial dispossession and apartheid, 87 percent of South African land is owned by whites and only 13 percent by blacks.
The governing party ANC said the law would tackle injustices imposed by white-minority rule. However, the main opposition Democratic Alliance opposed the bill.
According to the BBC South Africa, land is an emotive issue in the Southern African country 22 years after the end of apartheid.

The end of apartheid left a power vacuum in South Africa. The worst of the lot filled it. Too bad those young and dumb, protesting for the sake of protesting, could not see this inevitable conclusion. Short-sightedness is an affliction in all countries.

It's a shame that Blacks weren't properly educated under Apartheid. So when Afrikaners gave up power, uneducated Blacks took power without being prepared for governance.
We should have sided with Chief Buthelezi, as Reagan did.

Yep. And it is probably exacerbated by all the Zimbabweans who fled to South Africa for work but feed the “land for blacks” movement.
This is one reason to stop immigration. The people from failed states bring the ideas with them, and multiculturalism means we let them spread the bad ideas instead of saying learn from the successful people.

Which blacks will get the land??? The Zulus before the whitey came did a pretty good job of grabbing land from other black tribes.

Or hang on to what’s theirs, fight, and win. Don’t bring a defeatist attitude. What has it ever achieved? That’s like telling Americans they should leave because Mexicans want our southwestern lands, or Minnesotans should leave cities there because Somalis want their land, or Michiganders because Arabs do.
I hope they can all get out, and find new homes there or other better places.
China will be running South Africa in 20 years. Blacks will just be for labor again.
Afrikaners built South Africa. Why should they leave?
No need. If you look at Rhodesia, they will do a better job themselves.
