Good point ASA Vet. Ted speaks with some authority about “True Conservatives”. His constitutional law professor at Harvard, Larry Tribe, who was also Barack’s con. law professor and adviser, observed (Boston Globe Jan 11 2016) that Ted was a “hypocrite”, when he called himself a “constitutional conservative” while citing the 14th Amendment, which is a “Naturalization Amendment” built upon Article I Section 8, “...an Uniform Rule for Naturalization”, while claiming to be an “originalist”.
Larry was honest about being a “living constitution” advocate, meaning the Constitution can be adjusted to suit the times or the current powers, essentially dismissing the Constitution as an historical artifact. Barack said just that in his Chicago radio interview. And Barack had the integrity never to claim to be a natural born citizen. Barack told us he was “...born a subject of the British Commonwealth”. Ted simply lied, knowing the ignorance of most citizens about issues not even dealt with in most law schools, but still accessible and perfectly clear in Minor v. Happersett and Wong Kim Ark, supreme court decisions. But that is Larry’s expertise, and he did a pretty good job of preparing congress to parry questions about Obama’s citizenship problem so both parties could avoid the question, as well as defending John McCain’s problems in Senate Resolution 511, April 2008, which were not resolved before the 2008 election, silencing the Republicans, had there been any Congressman whose oath to honor, defend, and protect the Constitution still had any meaning.
Tribe is honest about his interpretation of the Constitution and never claimed to be an originalist. Fair enough - he believes the document is a rough outline subject to interpretation to suit the wills of the current times.
Cruz has made himself out to be a purist whose mission was preserving the original intent of the founders. It’s plain obvious that he, Rafael Crux, has exempted himself from his own originalist interpretation.
Cruz is duplicitous; it’s is a huge conflict that can not be rationalized or truthfully explained.
