For the little gain involved, it’s not worth the risk of a gaffe or mistake for the Trump campaign. Don’t do it.
If Trump really hammers Bernie in the debate, many of Bernie’s supporters who are currently not inclined to vote for Hillary, may decide otherwise if their guy gets embarrassed by Trump. A revenge vote, so to speak. I could be wrong, but it sounds like a risky deal for Trump in my opinion.
He should’ve said it could go to the Clinton Foundation and then turn around and make a joke about it.

I already know Trump’s strategy - debate, but iterate over and over that he feels sympathy for Bernie because the Democrats are robbing him even though he will win more states.
Assuming 25,000,000 people watch the debate. How is that going to generate $10,000,000 for charity let alone make it profitable for the network that carries it?
I don’t get it. Does he expect 100,000,000? Would that work?
Trump should let Bernie keep his half of the money raised in order to keep his campaign against Hitlary running.

Undermines Hillary by letting her competitor debate his views and attack her.
Looks more moderate by being willing to debate her competitor when she wouldn’t.
Gives himself another platform to express his views in the name of looking moderate/open.
If he’s nice to Sanders, but firm in his opposition this will work well. He has many points of agreement with Sanders especially about the corruption in Washington. Ideal scenario is if they both team up and tag Hillary as the consummate Washington politician. Trump will get a LOT of Sanders voters if he does this right. Not convinced that it will happen though.
