Donald Trump said Thursday that he plans to outsource key aspects of his presidential campaign to the Republican National Committee.
Trump's shoestring operation was good enough to win a primary, succeeding on his ability overwhelm opponents by dominating the new cycle. But Trump Tower is woefully unprepared to take on Hillary Clinton, lacking any semblance of a sophisticated field or digital program.
The RNC has spent the last three years building, from scratch, a modern voter turnout that was always intended to serve as the foundation for the eventual 2016 nominee's campaign infrastructure. That includes 287 paid staff in 11 battleground states, plus another 179 set to joint them.
But the assumption was always that the presidential nominee would bring something the table in the way of field and data analytics, built during the primary contest, as is typical of Republican standard bearers. Trump isn't the typical candidate, and is instead handing off responsibility for voter turnout to the RNC.
The move is making some Republicans nervous. They fear the committee will be too consumed with Trump to focus on House, Senate and governors races.
"There are worries," said GOP strategist Kevin Madden, a veteran of Mitt Romney's 2012 campaign, "since Trump never really built much of an operation."
Given that, some Republican operatives are saying that Trump to delegate was the only choice available to him. "It's the only logical thing for him to do," a veteran GOP campaign strategist said.
Trump is expressing confidence in RNC Chairman Reince Priebus' ability to manage all the party's needs his and those down ticket.
"As far as building the infrastructure of the campaign, the RNC has been doing it for many years. Reince has really upped it and all over the country they have very good people," Trump told reporter...

It’s probably a better description to say that Trump is merging with the RNC instead of outsourcing to them.
something tells me they’re gonna try to sabatoge it; they’d rather the Clintons than a true change maker. More free traitoring, more amnesty, etc.
BIG mistake! Do not put RINOS in charge of turnout operations. They will sabotage them and ensure that they throw the vote to Hillary.
That’s the way I see it and its a lot better GOTV system than Romney had going for him. RNC has upped their digital game big-time.
Not necessarily there are lots of Trump supporters in the RNC too. There are eyes everywhere.
If this article is even remotely close to the truth:
Is Trump brilliant, or what?
A more apt description of what has happened is that Trump has completed a hostile takeover of the RNC and all of its apparatus.
I think Trump likely has a “guy” or two that will watch them like a hawk and report back any funny business.
RNC has invested heavily in technology that is said be better than what Obama had.
Madden is a hysterical Trump hater. Just raged on CNN against Trump. Take everything he says with a grain of salt, IMO.
The 'national' RNC SHOULDN'T be consumed with local races. That's up to the local candidates and their local campaigns. TRUMP has it right. The 'PRESIDENCY' (Executive Branch) will control A LOT MORE in Federal bureaucracy over the 50 States, and so the Presidency 'PRIZE' should be more of a priority for the RNC than diluting themselves and their resources over the 50 states for each State's local races.
I agree. Trump would not have made this decision if he was not confident RNC would do the right thing.
This is how he runs such lean but effective organizations.
And the folks at the bottom have direct access to him and use it so that he knows what is going on almost seamlessly.
This is why he fired Rick Wiley. Wiley was trying to set himself up as the boss of the state directors. That's not Trump's style.
In this non-hierarchical fashion, the RNC won't be able to sabotage him without him knowing it right away.
Art of The Deal, baby.
If there’s one thing I’ve noticed over the last 11 months, it’s the media never gets it right when reporting about Trump.
This guy has his own team, and his own team is going to keep on producing for him.
The RNC is going to be sidelined, except where it can augment Trump’s efforts.
This guy isn’t stupid enough to turn his fate over to anyone, let alone his stated enemies like the RNC.
He’ll talk nice nice for party unity’s sake, but beyond that, he sees them for exactly who they are.
As always, the nominee becomes the leader of the Republican party. Even Ryan said exactly that. Trump is just taking advantage of the tools he just inherited.
