Sen. Marco Rubio is facing intense pressure to run for re-election to his Florida Senate seat, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell taking the lead in a campaign to get him to reconsider his plans to retire.

Republicans fear that if Rubio doesn’t run for a second term they could lose his seat. And if Republicans lose Florida they increase their odds of losing their Senate majority altogether. […]

At least one Republican, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, subsequently took the unusual step of issuing a public statement calling Rubio a “very valuable member of the Senate” and disclosing that “earlier this afternoon, I strongly encouraged him to reconsider his decision and seek re-election.” …

Boobio will lose his Senate seat anyway.

Floridians don’t like him or want him - period.

Lol. Yeah. Right. Uh huh. He’ll just be forced to run in order to keep his cushy job as a Senator. What a sacrifice. Yup. Uh huh.

If the rinos really want to maintain the seat they should find a real conservative to run. That’s a big “IF”. They’d rather lose the senate that get a real conservative in.

I have to laugh at Mitch McConman.

The running joke is an absentee Senator is worth what exactly?

Boobio never really did his job when he was too busy running for President.

Back in March, he lost every county in the state except Miami-Dade.

You mean the GOP can’t find any one in FL to run for his seat?

Pathetic.

Indeed, because a real conservative means a loss for the Uniparty. That is their twisted outlook.

Mitch and the Chamber of Commerce did that to us for the Senate race in Indiana.

Pumped millions at Todd Young (RINO-IN) to defeat Marlin Stutzman, who was a big big thorn in Boehners Butt.

This seats are hard enough to get in the first place. Run Marco. And then run for Gov. in 2 years. Appoint your successor.

Exactly right. Rubio would be primaried and lose. The Gang of 8 legacy will doom him in FL.

Rubio already said he was bored in the Senate and had no interest.

Floridians deserve to have a Senator who wants to represent them.

And does not represent illegal aliens and their employers.

If Rubio runs, he would easily win in Florida....

I live in Florida....voters have memories like goldfish...

Big difference in running for POTUS and running for re-election ....

He has tremendous name recognition down here...

What the bloody hell do you know about how Floridians feel about Marco? Despite his mess up,he was a fantastic state Senate and house leader, and our gop women have had the highest regard for him. He should have waited a few years before moving up,but he is still young. It is up to trump to talk with him further. He is an asset, and trump is a great user of a young talent. Trump will take no prisoners and ,he will use the best and brightest to whip the democRAt candidate.

McConnell ignores how Rubio basically treated the people of FL by his being bored with the Senate seat.

Why would FL reelect him?

If they thought that much of him, he would not have lost the primary as massively as he did.

Better for Rubio to seek another career path.

I think Rubio is plenty conservative and a decent senator. I live in a purple state and would love to have a senator like him compared to Tammy Baldwin. He was too young and inexperienced to run for president, but I admire the ambition. Let him mature.

Hell for half the new posters on this site, they want 100% pure conservatives and while that's great, no state other than something like Montana or Utah would elect someone like that to the senate. I'd bet I'm as conservative as anyone here, but some purists would find something to bash me over on some obscure topic.

screw it, you're right, Rubio is way better than the crap from the dem side. He spent time away from the senate when Jack pschitt was getting done anyway. Can't fault him for missing what, 35% of his votes? Obama missed 70% and John Kerry missed over 85%.

The problem is his “name” is associated with things like amnesty, lying, traitorous behavior, backstabbing, laziness, etc.
