WASHINGTON (AP) Donald Trump reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president Thursday, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and set the stage for a bitter fall campaign.
Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party's unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the national convention in July. Among them is Oklahoma GOP chairwoman Pam Pollard.
"I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn't like where our country is," Pollard said. "I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump."
It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination. Trump has reached 1,238. With 303 delegates at stake in five state primaries on June 7, Trump will easily pad his total, avoiding a contested convention in Cleveland.
Trump, a political neophyte who for years delivered caustic commentary on the state of the nation from the sidelines but had never run for office, fought off 16 other Republican contenders in an often ugly primary race.

Has anyone mentioned this to Cruz yet?? Did he understand the significance? Did he just go into another rant about being the chosen one?? The man is insufferable but I have a feeling we will continue to hear from him until election day, unfortunately, and his alter ego GaySick.
So it looks like Trump may surpass 13,000,000 in vote total.
I think you might be forgetting Jeff Sessions and a few others.....That IS the problem,I forgot. Nobody will EVER forget Trump. Let’s see some balls.
WAS THERE EVER ANY DOUBT!
You have a point there!
Lol. Yep he’s finished now for sure. He can never recover from this. He’s finished, peaked, it’s all downhill from here.
:) bout time. What took him soon? Hahahaha
There goes Teddy’s plan up in smoke. LOL!
Does this mean Hugh Hewitt will lay off his incessant magical math calculations in which Trump never gets to 1,237 delegates? Someone still listening will have to let us know.
You never know...Trump should make certain to stay as far away from Cruz’ father as possible.
Yes, his five year old is sharpening her Crayolas.
How is this possible with such high unfavorable numbers? No one likes Trump, right?
bon appetit all you pundits..
He deserves all the mocking he’s getting here. He ran a pathetic campaign from IA forward, couldn’t just suspend his campaign like everyone else, but had to make absurd threats about holding his delegates and disrupting the convention. And he was to be the knight in shining armor for conservatives? Biggest letdown in political history! Well, at least for most. There are those still clinging. Bitterly.
After all the insisting by Cruz, Kasich, and the GOPe, The Donald easily reaches the 1237 mark (plus 1) before the June primaries. Hey Karl Rove, Trump is the “fresh face.”
Exactly! The reason is that Romney had no intention to disrupt DC and the cozy relationship between the GOPe and The Democrats and their co conspirators in the media, both right and left.
I could see someone photoshopping a liquor bottle or a bong into her hand...
(-:
UUuuuuuge news. Congratulations to The Donald and the entire Trump campaign in achieving 1238 delegates to clinch the Republican nomination. (Karl Rove said you couldn’t do it....whats up with that?)
You have the right to swagger now Donald!
Now Karl Rove says that Hitlery is going to beat the Donald. Any bets ?
