WASHINGTON (AP) Donald Trump reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president Thursday, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and set the stage for a bitter fall campaign.
Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party's unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the national convention in July. Among them is Oklahoma GOP chairwoman Pam Pollard.
"I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn't like where our country is," Pollard said. "I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump."
It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination. Trump has reached 1,238. With 303 delegates at stake in five state primaries on June 7, Trump will easily pad his total, avoiding a contested convention in Cleveland.
Trump, a political neophyte who for years delivered caustic commentary on the state of the nation from the sidelines but had never run for office, fought off 16 other Republican contenders in an often ugly primary race.

Yes. A good landmark and place to briefly rest, but there is still a long march ahead of us.
Romney was not a conservative. LOTS of baggage too.
And yet we never had a "neverRomney" movement from the GOPe.

I would appreciate if he not use a gun, however. We have enough aggravation in explaining, to the drooling Stupid, that gun crime and suicide are not the same thing. Perhaps a home made bomb, in a nice, remote field.
“Cruz will announce his Presidential library location”
I wonder if Ted has commissioned his presidential portrait yet?

Good news deserves repeating.
>>>Trump in the White House. Hillary in the Big House!<<<
THAT is Bumper Sticker material right there.
“Romney was not a conservative. LOTS of baggage too. And yet we never had a “neverRomney” movement from the GOPe.”
Telling, isn’t it?
Romney was not a conservative. LOTS of baggage too....A hell of a lot more conservative than anything in the Senate than we have now.
“A hell of a lot more conservative than anything in the Senate than we have now.”
Possibly more conservative than anyone on the Dem side of the aisle, but that’s not saying much, considering that they’re all full blown communists today.
Hell, Romney has a governing record that would make any liberal Democrat blush with pride.
Any idea how many millions in votes Trump will get in CA?
I think you might be forgetting Jeff Sessions and a few others.
In 2012, Romney got 1,328,415 votes in the California GOP primary. There was no real challenger at that point.
My guess is Trump may get as many as a couple of hundred thousand more, since folks seem to be psyched to vote for him.
Kristol naught.
The AP is not biased. /s
Translation: the republican is going to fight back this time.
