California poll: Clinton and Sanders in virtual dead heat
The Mercury News ^ | May 25, 2016 | Matthew Artz

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Fueled by independents and younger voters fed up with both parties, Bernie Sanders has clawed his way back from a seemingly insurmountable deficit to draw nearly even with Hillary Clinton in California, a new poll finds less than two weeks before the Golden State's primary.

The Vermont senator now trails Clinton 46 percent to 44 percent among likely voters, a virtual dead heat well within the margin of error of the survey conducted by the nonpartisan Public Policy Institute of California.

While even losing California's June 7 primary wouldn't stop Clinton from claiming the Democratic nomination, it would send her limping out of the gates in the general election against Donald Trump. The disappointing poll numbers come as Clinton holds rallies Thursday in San Jose and San Francisco, reeling from Wednesday's report from the State Department's Inspector General sharply criticizing her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

"She's not winning in a blaze of glory; she's winning in a cloud of ambiguity," said Jack Pitney, a professor of politics at Claremont McKenna College.

Even though Clinton may well lock up enough delegates for the nomination before voting here comes to a close, California's significance as the nation's largest and most diverse state is not lost on either candidate. Clinton has opened up nine field offices, set up phone banking operations calling voters in seven languages, and will start airing ads in parts of the state featuring labor icon Dolores Huerta and actor Morgan Freeman.

Sanders, meanwhile, has crisscrossed the state over the last two weeks, drawing an estimated 90,000 supporters to 14 rallies. He also just bought $1.5 million worth of television ads.

The PPIC poll came as no surprise to either camp...

my seasoned Commie college buddy Volunteers on Sanders Campaign in Santa Monica. He says the Hillary ground team are all incompetant political hacks. The Sanders team has all the talent.

He also said the entire SoCal leadership of Bernies Team consists of very Talented women who despise Hillary.

He’s a seasoned political actor. He has gone from telling me ‘I just Hope we can generate enough votes to pull Hillary to the left’ to ‘It’s going to be close, but Bernie Might win California’.

just another data point

On the flip side, California will put Trump on the slate with enough pledged delegates to make the current unpledged delegates irrelevant. The only way to deny him would be via kamikaze coup....

It would be amusing if Bernie won the women's vote in CA.

Sanders numbers will go through the roof if he debates Trump before June 7.

Don’t worry. The Soros vote manipulation machine will get cranked up and put Hillary comfortably over the top.

not to change the subject, but is California going to be Kentucky all over again?

What happened to the 4,000 votes that were said to be in question?

Hillary is every bit as bad a candidate as Jeb was. Not telegenic, people hate listening to her voice, she is thought to be corrupt by 60% of the American public (who are the 40%?), her record of accomplishment is abysmal, and even most women dislike her.

She just has nobody running against her, so a ton of democrat voters don't know how bad she is.

She is being stymied by a 74 year old doddering fool who forgot the memo to pretend he's not really a socialist.

If they let her be the nominee, this could be the biggest landslide in American history.

Obama in sheer panic, calls down to the Democrat Party bullpen and tells “Plugs” Joe Biden (POTUS) & “Pochantas”, Elizabeth Warren (Biden’s VP) to get ready to get in the game, because he is pulling the plug on failed Democrat, POTUS candidate Hillary Clinton!!! LMAO!!!

And..........let us, we the people, see & hear Bernie Sanders & Donald J. Trump debate nationally, before the June 7th POTUS Primaries!!! Love that DJT!!! Go Donald J. Trump!!!

If Sanders were smart, he would invite Louis Farrakhan to talk with him on stage.

OR, just show THIS VIDEO at his next rally!

I truly hope so.
I want to see Hillary “win” California with blatant cheating.
The Bern-bots will NOT forgive the old hag as easily as some might think.....I predict that MILLIONS of Democrats will be sitting this election out...

If the Trump v Sanders debate happens (Hillary backed out of the debate) I expect Sanders will win Cali.

Trump takes a reasonable risk debating Sanders, but if he holds his own, he will inflict huge damage to Hillary. The GOP nominee is willing to debate Beanie but "she" isn't? lol, you just have to love Trump, I'll bet Hillary is pulling her hair out right about now.

Hillary’s problem is that no is genuinely excited about her.

People vote for only because of nostalgic feelings about her popular husband.

But that doesn’t translate into affection for her and she doesn’t have star power.

Hillary has been lucky all her life and its possible that is now coming to end to for her and if it does, it would be in of all places, CA.

If Hillary loses CA, she’d still get the nomination but enter the general election a very damaged and lackluster candidate.

Whatever she was counting on, simply hasn’t been there for her.

I know I’ve written demographics and massive vote fraud may still allow her to squeak through a win.

But that won’t turn into coattails for a third Obama term. No matter what happens in November, I can make another prediction: she won’t have any - and that’s a huge liability for her should she become President.
