A Merrill Lynch analyst ate a handful of magic mushrooms in his Manhattan apartment Sunday morning - and then plunged to his death out of his 26th floor window.
Alex Lagowitz, 23, was found dead on a third floor, outdoor patio around 10 a.m. - directly below his bedroom window at Windsor Court on East 31st Street and Lexington Avenue in Murray Hill.
Its still unclear if he purposely jumped or lost his balance and fell out of the window.

Whoever lived in the third floor apartment woke up to a mess.
Definitely not the kind of drug to do in a high-rise apartment building. I get vertigo just being 20 floors up perfectly sober.
Well, he did fly. Landing was the problem.
Another Olde Joke
As the young man lay on the street he was heard saying to the EMTs, go upstairs and tell the Texan in room 2610 “all fairies don’t fly’.
Sounds like a straight fall down, if he was pushed he would have landed farther out on the ground. I’m not a detective but I watch ID TV.
A friend of mine in college was into that. They were out camping and doing shrooms. His buddy imagined that the trees had come alive and he freaked out and started running.
He ran off a 15-foot cliff and broke his leg. Some of the guys were less drugged as others and they did a make-shift splint and in the morning had to carry him back the 20 miles to their car.
They all agreed to stick to pot that far back in the mountains after that.
It just shows that he is a normal, loveable magic mushroom eating American boy.
Newman: But you could never become a banker, could you, Mr. Kramer?
Eating at you| Eating, eating, eating at you!!
“Used to put them in batches of sweet tea to make them more palatable.”
I once knew a HS and a Jr. HS band director who’d have a nip of shroom-laced sweet tea before heading off to direct their respective bands. Said it made the practice sessions much more entertaining. Suprisingly enough, they both had award-winning bands.
With me, it was a combo of “Semi-Charmed Life”, and “Learning to Fly” both Petty and Pink Floyd’s lyrics.
A few years ago, there were a bunch of international bankers who turned up dead. Several strolled off of rooftops or went sailing out windows; one allegedly shot himself 8 times in the torso and head with a nail gun. I think the count got up in the 70s. Looks like we might have a late addition to the list.
Even as an Analyst, 23 years old is a smart guy. I did financial data analysis at age 22 and I broke a mold.
Never has anyone called me a banker.
I also would never, ever jump from an airplane. I have never understood the activity as something to be desired to do? A controlled landing in a field, highway, ditch in the water, golf course, or even tearing my wings off between two trees is far more appealing than jumping.
I think I was tossed off a cliff to a terrifying death in a previous life. That explains my command of flying and my fear of falling or jumping.
And then landed on George’s car.

Don't ask me how I know. All I can tell you is that I was in college in the late 1960s.
Never understood why people took drugs!
I remember that Steve McQueen movie. “As he was falling the kept saying ‘so far so good”” or something like that.
