Four houses surrounding Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's home in Palo Alto will be demolished and replaced by smaller ones, according to an application filed with city planners Tuesday.

Zuckerberg bought the homes on Hamilton Avenue and Edgewood Drive in 2013 after he learned of a developer's plan to build a house next door tall enough to have a view of Zuckerberg's master bedroom.

Concerned about privacy, Zuckerberg paid more than $30 million total for the properties at 1462 Edgewood Drive and 1451, 1457 and 1459 Hamilton in the Crescent Park neighborhood.

There are ads every 5 seconds. If ads on radio and tv make money, why wouldn’t the ones on Facebook? They sometimes look like content too.

The City should say NO and turn the 4 houses in to Muslim Refugee Centers, using Eminent Domain of course.

It's ads. Their current run rate for advertising is over $20B per year.

They aren't just pop-ups and with all the data FB collects about its users the ads can be very targeted.

Zuckerberg and Schmidt are busy data mining the planet but are in fact themselves total freaks when it comes to their personal affairs.

They may not realize it, but they’re both nothing more than tools.

Yes, Zuck concerned about privacy. The irony is rich with this one.

He will be given free bags of Cheetos.

Will Glenn be sitting naked in a bean bag chair eating Cheetos while watching TV?

You anti capitalists are destroying the united states. Complaining about a guy who made his own money and buying up some homes to make his quality of life enjoyable. Hillary appreciates you a lot for doing her job for her.

You're missing the point see post #16 for why people are upset with him. Not to mention the irony on privacy pointed out in numerous other posts.

Dilbert, I'm aware of the ads, but personally, I've been using pop-up blockers since Win-98!

Do that many people believe they can only get their little blue pills thru a FaceBook ad? Cheers!

Umm...the guy in charge of Facebook is concerned about privacy? A little ironic.

“I cannot figure how “mold-spore” Zuckerberg earns revenues from F.B.
I,ve never shed a nickel there, has anybody else??”

Facebook sells information, which is used to target advertising to you. They also have ads on the sidebar, but that aspect of the business has been hurt by the ascendancy of mobile devices.

I imagine if you post “I want to buy some shoes” on Facebook, you will soon get ads for shoes, as you browse the internet. Zuckerberg gets a penny or two to make that happen...but he deals in volume.

He’s not denying anybody housing, he’s just making sure the houses built there can’t see in his windows. And vice versa. Really in the end he’s improving the design for everybody.

Ad revenue. Very lucrative ad revenue due to the very precise targeting of the ads due to the fact that Facebook knows so much about you.

It's more or less the same model that sent Google into the stratosphere. Do a search for razor blades and see how quickly the ads for Gillette, Ralph's and Dollar Shave Club come up. Click on one of those ads and Google gets paid.

I believe the reason they came up with free email (Gmail) is so that they can mine additional data about you to generate even more targeted ads.

So, what I get from this is that Zuckerberg thinks we shouldn’t build a wall on the Mexican border, we should just annex Mexico and demolish it. Maybe then build a nice fence on Mexico’s border with Guatemala.
