Obama bans federal use of words 'Negro,' 'Oriental'

President Obama signed a legislatively passed amendment to the Local Public Works and Capital Development and Investment Act of 1976 that bans the federal government from using the words “Negro” and “Oriental” to describe blacks and Asians.

“Many Americans may not be aware that the word ‘Oriental’ is derogatory,” said Rep. Grace Meng on New York, Breitbart reported. “But it is an insulting term that needed to be removed from the books and I am extremely pleased that my legislation to do that is now the law of the land. The term ‘Oriental’ has no place in federal law and at long last this insulting and outdated term will be gone for good.”

The measure also updates how the federal government describes minorities, and replaces ‘Negro” with African-American and American Indians as Native Americans. The acceptable reference for Oriental is now Asian-American, Breitbart reported.

Just a few weeks ago, the Library of Congress began its official replacement of “illegal alien” with other less inflammatory references to those in the country illegally.

“Our country is a rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds and Americans of all backgrounds deserve to be treated with dignity and respect,” said Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., one of the co-sponsors of the bill.

Yes; this is the kind of trivia you promote when all you have is shallow ideology, and no real vision or ideal for the future of a nation.

Newspeak—Negro is Double-Ungood. Oriental is Double-Ungood. Gay is Good. Control Language and you control thought. This is just PC Crapola. Words rather than action.

The acceptable reference for Oriental is now Asian-American, Breitbart reported.

"Oriental," which can refer to Eastern Europe or Northeastern Africa, is a much broader term than "Asian."

“Many Americans may not be aware that the word ‘Oriental’ is derogatory,” said Rep. Grace Meng

Why? Seriously, Rep. Meng, explain what's derogatory about another word for "eastern"?

I'm sure the Jamaicans and Haitians and others will be thrilled to be referred to as African-Americans.

If “Oriental” is banned, it’s only logical that “Occidental” should also be. Therefore, Occidental College, which Obama attended, should change its name.

“...Native American...”

I was born in the US of A, that makes me Native American.

There just might be a chink in the armor.

Yes, it's still ok to say that, apparently.

Oriental

Yep, I said it.

This is the work product of Obama et.al. Another utterly ridiculous, meaningless and feckless attempt to criminalize reality.

No more oriental rugs I suppose.

Royce, who is my Congressman, has gone over to the dark side.

"What’s wrong with ‘colored’?"

It depends on the part of speech. Nouns are permitted. The 'correct' term is "persons of color". Adjectives are not. Using the term, "colored people" will be a third-degree felony.

“Good thing we tax peons don’t work for the federal government or we would be deprived of our constitutional right of freedom of speech.”

Not necessarily. Such words could be made a hate crime and could be said only in the absolute privacy of your own home with only those you trust after you are certain your home is not bugged. Those you trust would not include your own children that go to a government school.

Russia was like that, if Hillary gets in, or obama decides a 3rd term would be nice, then it will happen.
