May 20, 2016, 05:11 pm Obama signs measure striking 'oriental' and 'negro' from federal law
By Jordan Fabian
President Obama has signed legislation striking outdated racial terms such as Oriental and Negro from federal laws.
Obama signed the bill without fanfare on Friday along with six other pieces of legislation, the White House said.
The measure sailed through Congress unopposed, a rare example of bipartisan agreement in an election year. It reached the presidents desk after the Senate unanimously approved it on Monday. It passed the House easily in February.
The term Oriental has no place in federal law and at long last this insulting and outdated term will be gone for good, the author of the bill, Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.), said in a statement Friday.
Two sections in the U.S. Code written in the 1970s governing public health and civil rights attempted to define minority groups by using the outdated terms.

So what do we use instead of “Oriental”?
And don’t tell me “Asian” or my Vietnamese wife will hit me. She hates the term “Asian”. She always tells me Vladimir Putin is Asian and so are the Hindus; she’s oriental.
“The attack on oriental is no occident.”
That’s an interesting slant on the topic.
Negritude.
That was my first thought too - hopefully I live long enough to see the day when ‘OBAMA’ is stricken from every federal register in the land.
Personally, I was happy to see Obama nip this in the bud.
So if I open a restaurant and call it “Oriental Buffet”, I guess the IRS will not accept my taxes since the federal tax paperwork could not use that word.
Thats an interesting slant on the topic.<<<

IOW, junk legislation.
Murder on the Asian Express just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
But what if someone identifies with being oriental or negro???
That’s a man, baby!
That was damned Orwellian of him, or maybe obamian.
That’ll upset his Mexican illegals. They’ll have to say “no blanco” beans.
What about the United Negro College Fund? What about the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people? What about rap music, with its obsession with the “n” word?
It’s always intrigued me: who are the anonymous people who declare which racial and ethnic terms are now acceptable? It certainly isn’t put up to a vote.
Maybe we should send this video to the White Hut and the Congress:
George Carlin may have been a liberal, but he was right about any number of things.
“Since when has the word Oriental been insulting? Negro....well they are upset about everything.”
I had a fellow who worked for me who was half-Chinese. He always referred to himself as an ORNAMENTAL!
“the colored boy in the White House is a permanent stain on American history”
He’s about as “black” as Rachel Dolezal! The problem is he “self-identifles” as black, even though he’s half white and only 7% Negro (or whatever we’re suppoed to call him now).
