That is not a solution, because you will eventually qualify as a “common law marriage”, and all the same state laws will apply whether you got a marriage license or not.

There’s only a few states left that recognize common law marriages. And even then, establishing a common law marriage in court is a difficult thing to do.

Some states do recognize a long-term “intimate relationship.”

Depends on your state. The ultimate solution has to come from the church returning to enforcing the pataratcal family but there’s nothing I can do about that.
