Donald Trump has hired hundreds of people throughout his career and soared to national fame as the star of a reality TV show dubbed the "ultimate job interview."
Now, as the Republican Party's presumptive presidential nominee, Trump is beginning the most consequential interview process of his lifetime: choosing a vice president.
While Trump has never before had to pick a political partner, he has had plenty of practice sifting through resumes and hand-picking executives to help run his real estate empire. Four current and past senior managers at the Trump Organization who agreed to speak with CNN -- including the general managers of the Trump golf course in Los Angeles and the Trump International Hotel in New York -- shed light on how Trump deliberates over his corporate hires -- and what kind of qualities Trump likes in a No. 2.
"Many of the same qualities that he would look for for someone to work closely with him within his organization are going to apply to his search for a VP," said Jill Martin, vice president and assistant general counsel for the Trump Organization.
Deeply loyal
Martin and others describe a boss who demands deep loyalty, both to him and his franchise. He is drawn to conventional markers of prestige, such as Ivy League degrees or past employment at well-known firms. He can be somewhat of a micromanager, at times involved in even the minutiae of decorating decisions throughout his numerous properties. Trump would be overwhelmed with the shear quantity of ideas Gingrich has... and the massive changing compromises... The question will come down to ‘how well can Newt work with Congress’ - does he know the ins and outs?” And he does. Gingrich has a place in the Trump Administration, but it might not be VP... he needs to stay on the short list.
My guess is Sanders is more Trump's type - hard as nails and loyal to a fault. Problem with Sanders is he's a socialist. And that will never work...

Trump has no military service. If he picks anyone who’s not a vet, many will be deeply, profoundly disappointed.

There is a difference between what he might *want*, and what he truly *needs*.
In corporate terms, he needs a “hatchet man”. For W. Bush, Dick Cheney came close, but he was underused compared to the corporate equivalent.
This hatchet man will be the “bad guy” in the administration: slashing agency budgets and government regulations; creating huge lists of Executive Orders and Presidential Signing Statements to repeal.
And firing a minimum of 100,000-200,000 government employees, starting with those who have broken the laws, assumed illegal powers, corrupted scientific research, and engaged in other nefarious actions. And it is not good enough to just fire them. This VP will forward his list to all the new federal prosecutors selected by Trump, to show their potential by putting as many in prison as they can, as well as permanent bars to them either working for the government in the future, or to be hired by companies with federal contracts.
Granted, this VP will be attacked like none other, and vilified at every opportunity. But if he keeps his intestinal fortitude, everybody but the scoundrels who are purged and the corrupt leftists that support them will benefit. It will benefit our nation to an incredible degree.
For this reason, Ted Cruz would be the best choice for VP.

Just the mental image I have of Col. West holding a sidearm to a prisoner’s head to find out where the ambush was is enough to get me to vote for him/them.
Proof? There is no way of telling who anyone votes for - no matter what they say.
However, Condi has refused to admit that she voted for McCain and didn’t vote for Obama.

I doubt she voted for McCain. She hated him.
I wish I could send Trump your entire post, and be sure he’d see it. One circumstance that gives me hope is that both West and Lewindowski were targets of Michelle Fields’ false accusations. Maybe Corey will mention West to Trump?
I’ve thought Gingrich but think he may be better as Chief of Staff.
How about former Senator Jim DeMint? As current president of the Heritage Foundation, he knows policy and has a relationship with the Senate (and House as he was a member).
Also, he’s 64 and could step in to take over. He also didn’t enter the race in 2016 when some thought he would.

Long term Representative. Pretty solidly Conservative. Young (47) but with lots of experience (11 years State level, 11 years Federal level).
Well spoken, smart, gets generally good across-the-board ratings from conservative groups, knows how the system works at the Federal level, and I believe would actually put pressure on Hillary! in the Northwest (Cathy was born in Oregon, now represents Washington).

There are no tough vets available? The veep is supposed to balance the ticket. The least a lifelong civilian CiC could do is pick a vet as his running mate .

That's easy - Hillary! can run the same type of show, however the WINNER of each week is the one who gets to leave the running! The person who ends ups losing the entire thing gets stuck being her running mate!

And, Congressman Hunter has been a strong supporter of Trump.
There you go, a VP that is a veteran, conservative AND helps Trump with California.
