Target sues Chattanooga girl's hero

CHATTANOOGA — Glen Meadows will be making another trip from Chattanooga to Pennsylvania this weekend.

Allison Meadows, Glen's daughter, was stabbed at a Target store in East Liberty, Penn in 2013. Surveillance footage showed Leon Walls grabbed and attacked Meadows' daughter with a knife. A group of men came to help stop Walls from committing any further harm. One of those men was Michael Turner, who is now being sued by the chain.

"I thank him," said Meadows, "I thank him every time I see him."

While Meadows thanks Turner, Target blames him. Court documents say the company claims Turner chased Walls with a baseball bat into the entrance of the store, creating more danger to those inside.

Nothing like doubling down when you’ve lost a million.

Lose the case; another million(s) out the door. Good news, Target will soon be gone.

I spent the majority of my career in the military industrial complex. The main company desire was to vanish into the background and remain unnoticed by the general public. I believe this is driven by the abundance of AstroTurf and the bad publicity it generates. For example, a bus brought protesters almost daily to my plant in Tallahassee. They were handed box lunches, took regular breaks (from standing around holding signs) and were picked up promptly at a prearranged time. (You could tell when the bus was about to arrive as they were all queued up for it.)

Retail, on the other hand, apparently believes, wrongly, that no publicity is bad publicity. They are angrily pursuing an agenda that is inimical to the company’s value to its investors. They don’t care. If I did shop at Target I would stop.

You forgot the rest of the story:

“Target filed a counterclaim against Turner, adding him as a defendant to the case. The trial is expected to being (sic) on Monday. Meadows and his family will commute to Pennsylvania on Sunday to attend.

Two other men are also being sued by Target, however Meadows is the only defendant without an attorney who will be representing himself.”

There’s no explanation about that.

Minor point - “East Liberty” is a neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh, PA.

Who made the decision to go to, or to enter, the Target store?

The perp.

Who caused the underlying situation?

The perp.

Target should be reamed for this one.

Prosecute a hero?

For damages that did not occur, but could have occurred?

And the judge should do the reaming.
