BEIJING — China's attempts to claim a nearly 1.4-million-square-mile swathe of open ocean are without precedent and probably without legal merit, but Beijing continues to assert its right to the economically critical zone — and increasingly puts its claims in military terms.
Speaking to a small group of reporters in Beijing on Thursday, a high-ranking Chinese official made his warning clear: The United States should not provoke China in the South China Sea without expecting retaliation.

Cower elsewhere then; China is teetering on collapse. I don't fear them in the slightest as they cannot innovate, they cannot match our true skills and they cannot even copy/steal ideas and put them into play with any precision. They are a country that is dependent on the world for their exports of trash. Invalidate the debt they hold of the U.S. and ban their imports to the U.S. and watch them crumble within weeks.
They are talking smack like Iran. If they sunk one of our ships we could stop all trade with them and then deny them access to oil with our submarines and surface ships. The great weakness of Asia is their lack of natural resources.

I think Obama wants to provoke China into demonstrating just how ballsy they can be by invading Taiwan.
There may be some feeble attempt at Obama expressing his ‘discomfort’ with the invasion, but we all know nothing will really happen. My guess is Obama thinks if he allows China to reclaim Taiwan, they won’t fuss when America begins taking control of various ‘no-name’ islands near (but not too near) that part of the world. Yes, this is all speculation. But one has to wonder what the end result is that Obama wishes to be his legacy. One Worlding may also figure into Obama’s and the EU’s final vision of what the world should look like.
