Which is why my daughter and I no longer go through Illinois on our way to Missouri.

If you live in Wisconsin and travel to Missouri, how do you avoid Illinois without traveling a whole lot of extra miles?
Go through Iowa?
Yes. Last time, we stayed over in Ottumwa, IA. I thought it was amusing to stay in Radar’s “home town”. :-)
Frankly, it didn’t take much longer than going through IL and St. Louis.
