Republicans Want Their Party to Unify Behind Donald Trump, Poll Shows
NY Times ^ | 05-19-2016 | JONATHAN MARTIN and DALIA SUSSMAN

An overwhelming majority of Republican voters say their party’s leaders should get behind Donald J. Trump, even as he enters the general election saddled with toxic favorability ratings among the broader electorate, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

And as Mr. Trump faces deep skepticism with general election voters and some Republican holdouts, the Democratic front-runner, Hillary Clinton, is grappling with Senator Bernie Sanders and how to win over his impassioned supporters.

Both parties thus approach their July nominating conventions with significant unease and hurdles to overcome. Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton are widely disliked by voters, and both parties will need to repair schisms that might spell doom in an ordinary election year. But this, of course, is no ordinary year.

Predictably the Times has managed to produce polling data that flatly contradicts the two polls just released by Rassmussen and Fox News showing Trump ahead.

Let’s say 90% of “R’s” vote for Trump while the other 10% sit home and cry themselves to sleep. And 15%-20% of white Dems with common sense flip to Trump, and 20% of blacks and hispanics with common sense flip to Trump.... That means a landslide defeat for HilLIARy.

20% of Blacks voting GOP? That hasn’t happened since the 1920’s. If he gets 5% it would be a political earthquake.

Strange, no comment about Hillary entering the race saddled with toxic favorability ratings among the broader electorate.

The more we kick out, the better chance we have to win. I know that seems contradictory but there it is.

An overwhelming majority of Republican voters say their party’s leaders should get behind Donald J. Trump

Hear that, GOPe?

NOT "get behind the Club for Growth."

NOT "get behind Paul Ryan or Ted Cruz."

NOT "get behind the staff of National Review."

"GET. BEHIND. DONALD. TRUMP."

Can you hear us NOW -- ?!?

Right now Trump is the best answer to getting America back on track. Anyone else running for the job is a pussy. Let’s quit screwing around and get the job done.

FFS it isn’t that complicated.

What we want is a NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY of winners and hitters. We want the RINOs out forever and we want to burn their towns and salt their fields. They are now deposed. They are no longer welcome here and should be removed from the premises. It is our party now.

right you are. Just another slanted piece from the NY DNC Times. Rather unsurprising headline, article filled with half-truths and omissions.

“20% of Blacks voting GOP? That hasn’t happened since the 1920’s.”

Actually, blacks stayed loyal to the GOP a lot longer than that. FDR was the first Dem to attract any significant numbers away from the Republican party. That was turbo boosted by LBJ with his huge welfare programs of the sixties.

When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, all the old folks in my family voted for ‘the party of Lincoln’. A lot of the younger folks did, too.

The Rasmussen Poll is the only one which used Likely Voters as opposed to registered ones and it closed on the 18th, one day later than Fox or the Times/CBS. Rasmussen’s model showing likely voters also gives Mr. Trump his highest lead of 5 points.

The story acknowledged Clinton has lost ground to Trump and they used RVs instead of LVs. Obviously they want to help her though.

This is a stupid headline and article. The fact that Trump won the primary is the proof that Republicans want Trump.

The "unify" talk is psychobabble doublespeak. Those that don't support Trump are anti American losers, or globalist elites that live on gaming the system to their own exalted gratification. Now ask me if I am still passed off!?
