Mesquite, TX investigators said according to witnesses, an incident that started with a harmless traffic maneuver, ended with a man being shot and killed in self defense this Sunday.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Rodeo Center Drive and Military Parkway about 10:15 p.m. where they discovered the body of Armando Macias Jr., 25, who died from apparent gunshot wounds.
When Macias and two family members witnessed a car turning around in their driveway, they began to yell and curse at the people in the vehicle. The driver of the car, who was unfamiliar with the area and mistakenly pulled into the driveway, backed out and drove off.
At that time, Macias and one other family member entered their own vehicle and pursued the car. The car occupied by Macias pulled in front of the other vehicle, blocking it in at the intersection of Rodeo Center Drive and Military Parkway.
Witnesses said Macias exited the vehicle and approached the passenger side of the other car. He then reached into the car and began to assault the woman in the passenger seat, while attempting to pull her from the car. The driver and backseat passenger pulled at the woman in the front passenger seat, trying to keep her from being pulled from the car.
Macias reached for the seat belt mechanism, in a failed attempt to remove it. The backseat passenger saw Macias reach for something around his waistband, and fearing for his life and the life of the woman in the front passenger seat, the backseat passenger fired two shots from a handgun, with both shots striking Macias.
Police confirm they discovered a screwdriver lying next to Macias’s body and investigators see this as a clear case of self-defense, and defense of a third party.
The case is being referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury.

There are millions of driveways in Texas. I turn around in them all the time when I find myself on the wrong street. Never an incident. Foolish reason to not visit the Friendly State, IMO.
Americans used to just wave howdy. Now everything has to go to a shooting war.

This pulling in front of and blocking the target vehicle at an intersection is a typical carjacking technique used by criminals all over this country.
If you are ever attacked at an intersection as happened to this person in Mesquite Texas, try this escape technique:
When the assailant departs the vehicle stopped in front of you, apply the foot brake, put your vehicle in reverse, and turn your front wheels away from the approaching assailant. Carjackers usually approach on the drivers side with weapon drawn and when he comes along side the drivers window, press down on the accelerator and simultaneously release the foot brake. Your vehicle will, in reverse, run over the assailant and crush him under your vehicle. With your vehicle now facing in the opposite direction, you can put your vehicle into drive and rapidly depart the area.
Always have a plan.
You are wasting your time trying to talk to an idiot.
Turning around in a driveway did not get anyone killed.
Chasing down a car occupied by people doing no wrong and trying to pull a woman out of that car is what will get you killed.
And more than likely the same thing would happen in 48 if not 50 states.

Carrying a loaded handgun in a car in Texas requires a concealed carry permit.
An illegal isn’t going to be getting a concealed carry permit in Texas. Or, anywhere else.
