The top ranks of the Republican Party may be coalescing around Donald Trump, but grass-roots conservative activists are still trying to find a way to stop him at the party's convention in July.

Angered by Trump's shifting views on taxes, the minimum wage, national security and how little he discusses social issues, conservatives across the country are studying the party rule book for last-ditch moves they could make when the convention begins in Cleveland.

Good question, where’s McConnell?

Why are the delegates trying to meet in secret prior to the convention?

Set up their own website? so bizarre

Never happen. Just makes for good drama/soap opera. That’s all these clowns are good for.

UNIPARTY hacks will always be against the people. Thanks for identifying some of them.

These aren’t “conservatives” they are uni-party Hillary supporters. That is the only alternative. You don’t like the GOP candidate that got more votes than any in history, and you try to cut him off at the knees? Who do you want? It’s a fairly easy question

The rules committee is stacked with Cruz delegates and two extremely bitter NeverTrump delegates from Colorado. Will they have the audacity to try this?

Since they do not follow Robert’s Rules of Order, I’m not sure what is required for a passage of the new 2016 rules? A simple majority of the committee? or the entire RNC delegation?

No, the conservatives are proud of their nominee for the first time in years. I don’t care what these republicans want.

Read the article. It certainly is about a power play for some of them, it’s not all about the candidates. It is about their restructuring and taking power away from the people.

“Conservatives”?

The only opposition Trump has, are supporters of the current “for sale to foreign interests” clique which has leaderlessly led the GOP into the swamp during the entire last generation.

Trump is for AMERICA. It is so nice, to have a leader candidate, who is for our own country, for a change.

I don’t trust these people, but thus far the ability of this faction to accomplish anything has been overstated. I think the Dems are in for a lot more convention chaos.

Rather this is about “conservative purity” as well as power. Yet today Trump put out a list of possible USSC justice replacements for Scalia and they sure look conservative indeed.

The Bushes had 25 years to bring up the “R” word.

Took the Donald 11 months.

That’s the truth.

Losing is the only thing that the GOP does well.

They can do Nothing. If they do it opens up the witness stand like a smelly can of Obama.

Really cornfedboy. And how would you know? The delegates have an obligation to attend and will be replaced by an alternate if they cancel.

Name the Iowa or Nebraska delegates that have announced they aren’t going. I can obtain the delegate lists from each state and crosscheck names.

As much as I enjoy blaming stuff on Bush, Curly faced off against Bush in 2000 when GWB tried to place Mel Martinez as head of the RNC and the whole thing was a mess.

This is a combo of desperate factions united in searching for a Hail Mary Pass to block Trump at the first ballot.

And they want to take the power of the vote away from the electorate and give to the delegates for future primaries.

Don’t know of any yet but I highly suspect it will happen. These folks have to take time away from their job at their own expense to attend. They aren’t going to attend a party that they are not invited to. The delegates know that Trump is the nominee. Anything else is just plain political suicide. That goes for the delegates themselves too. Many of them are elected officials.

By all means, put your fingers in your ears, shake your head, and pretend they are not trying. Look at the delegates on the rules committee, Research them, and then come back and say the same thing.

Unless you are one of the 16 on the committee; you have no idea what they may or may not try.

Or, how much money is waiting in all those Swiss bank accounts and offshore island mansions.
