I am not sure what a “compound person” is. Perhaps your response was meant for someone else. I understand “ticket balancing.” I also know that in the case of Reagan, taking GHWB was putting an enemy on the payroll. Collectively, the Booshes have worked to undo pretty much everything that Reagan did. So, “ticket balancing” does have some practical limitations if you, as president, really have it in mind to change the direction of the country., But you are right, you don’t get to play at all unless you do manage to get elected, so the VP choice has several competing elements to be considered. I also know that the Booshes are the true genesis of our nation’s current problems. W ran up the debt, and got us into a couple of wars that he didn’t seem to want to win. So he set the country up for Obama. The Booshes are $hit! Sorry for the divergence.
to me a “compound person” is someone who lives in a bunker or under a rock and will only support a John Bircher type ultraconservative who will draw 5% of the vote. As an aside I’ve been talking this over at work today and we all can settle on Newt Gingrich as VP if he can get over the supposed character issues.
