Is Mitt on a Suicide Mission?
townhall.com ^ | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 05/17/2016 4:07:31 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Among others sounded out for the mission are ex-Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, retired Marine Corps General James Mattis, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks. All have begged off.

Apparently, Romney, the Republican Party's 2012 nominee, personally sounded out both Sasse and Gov. John Kasich, who will be hosting the Cleveland Convention where the coronation of the Donald is to be held.

How Kasich could expect to beat Trump in November, when he lost every state primary to Trump, save his own, is unexplained. And, indeed, Romney's recruitment of Kasich raises a question.

If Romney believes that Trump is an unacceptable nominee and would be an intolerable president, and that Republicans have a moral obligation to prevent this, why does Romney not man up and take on the assignment himself?

Now, admittedly, Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, where Romney attended, does not have a long tradition of producing suicide bombers. Yet, Romney is asking others to undertake a mission that will kill their careers and make them pariahs in their party, but will not do it himself.

Mitt is especially upset because Trump has said many times, how Mitt just gave up near the end of campaign and was a lousy campaigner. And of course the Gucci store reference.

Is Romney fulfilling the religious delusions of a cult he is a leader of?
Not good!

Is part of it sicko envy of Trump’s success? Romney is a pauper and failure compared to Trump.

You know? It really could be that. If you think about it, everyone says that Mittens lost because he was a chickenshit who wouldn’t attack and fight back.

He got his first taste of battle when he first spoke out in the Benghazi events as they unrolled and the media bitch slapped him something terrible. He never recovered from it.

Fast forward him through a campaign where “that dog didn’t hunt” and loss and then he sees Trump doing exactly what he should have done all along. Attack, attack, attack - and don’t give a crap what the media says. Just get them talking about you......

Could very well be envy and jealousy.....yep

Based on family history it’s safe to say that he will continue to be a traitorous POS and continue working for Hillary.
The guy is demented and clearly chasing Daddy’s ghost.

In Mitt’s defense, he is trying as hard for a republican win in 2016 as he tried in 2012.

This is a very simple motion of another millionaire, sitting there ‘on the waterfront’, looking upon the wonders of a winning Trump, and saying “I coulda been a contenduh”.

Mitt Romney, in the same manner as Spock in ‘The Wrath of Khan’, in signing his Romneycare, was dead already, but the body had not recognized that fact.

I totally despise Romney, Stuart Stevens, Mike Murphy and that other A-Hole in cahoots with them.

They’re all OPEN BORDER A-Holes and Romney desperately needs the bail-out for Puerto Rico.

It was said way back when Romney first engineered a path through politics to the nomination that he wanted to succeed where his dad failed. So, he did all the right stuff, but no passion. He lost to a person who lacked the grace, pedigree, and credentials that Romney has. Romney's been high on that superiority mountain, good family man, loyal, holier-than-thou. Romney conveyed that he lost because his superiority was beyond the comprehension of most US voters. And now, along comes Trump, fundamentally a more decent, loyal, passionate and likeable person.

Then there's the Bain Capital situation. You don't have to spend long in MA to find someone whose financial life was ruined by that hedge fund's slice and dice tactics. It may not be over. Quick research of "Romney and Bain Capital" brings up the potential of some RICO violations and lawsuits coming his way. So maybe part of it is that losing control of the lawmakers and judiciary could unravel Romney's financial success.

Gaffer, everything is surreal. It seems sometimes we're in a for real Matrix, and an epic Shakespeare type tale of downfall, destruction, and heroism (we hope) is playing out, and they're all following some epic script.

I know that's crazy. It's all just so weird from anything we ever could have imagined...globally, nationally, and in the political arena.

Are there sources that Romney and Bain Capital are in need of a Puerto Rico ballot? My congresswoman might respond to info like that.

Mr. Romney will not do this himself because it will reflect on his sons. The HRC damage will forever be associated with the Romney name.

And he intends to foist his sons on this electorate in the coming years.

Either Trump or Clinton is going to be the next president. To the degree they succeed in wounding or killing Trump's candidacy, they advance Clinton's chances of succeeding Obama.

A Clintons Presidency is much more compatible with Romney's and with other gopes' personal fortunes and power positions than would be a Trump Presidency. Romney et al would act as they have acted- as enforcers for the Total Democrat State to keep the rest of the willing gopes which constitute 90% of the Congress no matter who gets elected to that body- totally on the reservation.

I am really thinking that’s a lot of it.

Romney the “manager/executive” ended up running a terrible campaign. Trump, a brilliant one.

And Romney has felt entitled ever since he thought his father was robbed.

Trump has the common touch, whereas Romney is insufferable.

What the Never Trump folks refuse to face is this transparent reality:

Either Trump or Clinton is going to be the next president. To the degree they succeed in wounding or killing Trump's candidacy, they advance Clinton's chances of succeeding Obama.

They face it, and view it as a preferable alternative to a Trump victory.

Funny that Buchanan is taking this tack, as his own run in 2000 risked giving the White House to Al Gore, it is a funny accident of history that he might have GIVEN Bush the White House because of the combination of low skilled voters and Florida's butterfly ballot.

With the exception of Abortion, Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton are virtually identical in almost ALL OF THEIR Official Positions on just about everything including economics. Why doesn’t he just Join Hillarys campaign and maybe become her VP.
