Venezuela emergency decree boosts security powers (dictatorship)

Venezuela's army is to be backed by civilians grouped into ancillary security units, to tackle food shortages and public unrest, under a state of emergency decree published on Monday.

The decree, published in the government gazette, brings into effect for at least 60 days sweeping powers President Nicolas Maduro announced on Friday.

The measures give his government and security forces broad authorization to ignore most constitutional safeguards in a bid to keep order and supply basic food and services, and to counter a crippling energy shortage.

But the opposition, which controls the National Assembly and is seeking Maduro's ouster through a referendum, is to put the decree's public-control measures to the test on Wednesday with nationwide marches.

Police and soldiers used tear gas to break up similar protests last week.

Get people really, really hungry and they will do ANYTHING you ask them too. Even on a full stomach.

People will burn in fires in the streets, and be shot in the head for trying to escape. Mark my words.

I would speculate people are going to die in large numbers as Venezuela’s Communist government goes through the throes of death.

A large shipment of AKs and ammunition needs to get to the people. There will be no removing Maduro by democratic means and the recall petition process is just a time wasting diversion IMO.

0bama will bring them here as refugees, as long as they were Maduro supporters.

You are correct, but Obama has probably already shipped arms — to the Maduro side. Hopefully Colombia and/or Brazil will intervene.

It is sad to see another communist Holocaust unfold. Maduro will arm his thugs, who will seize and consume all the food. Anyone who does not support his dictatorship will be starved or killed outright and their property confiscated. Anyone who supports freedom should fight to their last breath now; they will be too weak later.

...the executive branch has exercised increasingly authoritarian control over other branches of government. At the same time, democratic institutions have deteriorated, threats to freedom of expression have increased, and political polarization has grown.

Do you see a pattern?

How much longer before military coup or violent anarchy descends on Venezuela? 2 weeks, month?

Sorry, don’t care. They WANTED Chavez and Maduro. Let them descend into anarchy and then reorganize by themselves. They should get nothing from us until they do.

And NO “refugees”!

There were elections in last December and opposition was voted in. The opposition has 112 seats and Maduro’s guys have only 55. That is why Maduro declared emergency - this way he can rule without national assembly.

This step was being taken by communist Allende in Chile a couple of months before his overthrow by the military. Allende’s action was taken as production had largely halted in the country.

Look for the same result in Venezuela soon. And it will be lamented and condemned by the left.

The US Government is salivating to have these kinds of powers, and they will get them after overcoming a few muted whimpers of protest from the taxpayers/subjects.

And not a word in the American mass media.

I’m more convinced than ever that the whole “tranny in the bathroom” incident ginned up by Barky was a “Squirrel” maneuver, a shiny object to keep people from noticing what’s going on in Barky’s favorite socialist paradise.
