Your point - absolutely! The big Times “backfire” is that with their false narrative/reporting, they have further inoculated Trump against such trash in the future. Time and time again, the media has been found to be lying & it’s gotten to the point that people just say “more lies” and negative Trump reporting is dismissed out of hand. Trump, on his own, had a fairly thick Teflon coating to start with, but the Times et al is merely slathering on more Teflon with every ‘hit piece’ they desperately try to smear on Trump. It’s fun to watch, actually.
This is so much fun to watch.
BTW if Hillary drops out Trump will grab the narrative of how unstoppable he is and milk it for all its worth. Expected Bidend to be branded as creepy.

It was reported today on every media portal I had the misfortune of coming into contact with that Trump had a “very very bad weekend.”
Which was the first I’d heard of it.
I’ve said it before: They write the story first, then the event happens, and whether it matches up or not, they report from the script.
