Delivering the commencement address at Rutgers University in New Jersey today, President Barack Obama told the graduates that "the good old days weren't that good" and that both America and the world are better than they were "even eight years ago."
"When you hear someone longing for the good old days, take it with a grain of salt, take it with a grain of salt," Obama said in his address.
"In fact," he said, "by almost every measure, America is better and the world is better than it was 50 years ago or 30 years ago or even eight years ago."

Except by every measure that's important.
7 1/2 years were great under Bush compared to the hell the last 7 1/2 have been under Obama.
Bush had NOTHING to do with the world wide recession, he just happened to be leaving office when it occurred.
Funny how the left never blames the tech bubble implosion on Bill Clinton... What if that had happened 6 months before Clinton left office? Timing of these random events is everything.
The truth is Bush had already fixed the mess before he left office. It just takes awhile to see the effects and those effects didn’t start showing until about a year later, and Obama promptly took credit for them and then has spent the next 7 years destroying the economy and claiming things are better (when compared to a couple of months at the end of Bush’s presidency.
See my reply in post 62...
The fact is the economy crashed in anticipation of Obama winning.
I’ll s*** BLT on Zero’s hell hole.
Insanely delusional.
The economy. Given that the economy was in crisis eight years ago, almost anything would be better. It should be pointed out that the economy was in crisis primarily because of government policies that Obama (and his buddies) promoted. Still, as "recoveries" go, this one has been a real clunker. Growth has been minimal, real unemployment is high. More people are on public assistance than ever before. Maybe things are 'better', but it is hardly anything to crow about.
Crime. Murders are up in the large cities. The police have been neutered. Not much there.
Race relations. Hard to say that that is better.
Foreign policy. Sure, he disengaged the U.S from a couple of Middle East wars, but in doing so, he created a vacuum for groups like ISIS to exploit. We had to re-engage in a worse war that now involves Russia. Our enemies, like Russia, China, Iran, have been emboldened. Our friends (Great Britain, Israel) mistrust us. Some of our old allies like Egypt and Turkey have flipped. Nothing better here.
National debt. Our debt is far higher, our annual deficits run higher. Our credit rating has taken a hit. Not a win here either.
Domestic policy. I think you'd be hard pressed to say health care is better now. The Obamacare bureaucracy has been a real mess, doctors are leaving the profession. Health care is more expensive. More people have NOT been covered. Insurance companies have folded. And it is likely to get worse. He bailed out General Motors, saving a failing company by screwing taxpayers, stock holders, bond holders and auto dealers.
Freedom and civil rights. Obama has done his best to trample on the Bill of Rights. Your right to own a gun, own property, speak freely, worship freely, are all worse, Far worse.
Those are MY measures. And I give him an F- for his presidency.
Like hell it is.
Terror Deaths up 800% since 2010.
Yeah, much better if you are a terrorist.
The left has been re-writing history for 90 years. No reason to stop now.
“Things are better now than ever. I know this because people I enriched by giving them power and money agree with me.”
He was channeling Reagan: “Are we better off than we were eight years ago?”
Nice try.
For this criminal thug prez and his grifter family...it is. They are set for life...the ultimate affirmative-action/equal-opportunity couple. Losers and criminals all.
Well he is a homosexual married to a transsexual so of course his thinking is delusional.
You give him an F- and I say you gave him too much credit and not enough blame for things like setting the ME on fire and Egypt not wanting anything to do with us anymore because he caused Mubarak to be dethroned and tried to put a Muslim Brotherhood goon in his place. And Libya, and Syria, and Afghanistan, and Iraq, and Mexico and Venezuela, and Cuba...
indeed WTF!
I wonder what the student reaction was.
I believe it is more properly married to a transvestite.
