President Barack Obama probably needed his gown to keep him warm as he delivered a commencement speech at Rutgers University amid historically cold temperatures in New Jersey.
But as he touted global warming, Obama denied that colder than usual temperatures meant that climate change didn’t exist.
“Now, I recognize it doesn’t feel like the planet is warmer right now. I understand,” he said, acknowledging that there was hail when he landed on Air Force One in Newark.
But Obama insisted that it was still a reality, citing “overwhelming consensus” from the scientific community to back his claim. He also mocked Republican critics who used the weather to suggest that climate change wasn’t real. He referred directly to the stunt by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) in which he threw a snowball on the Senate floor.

Let’s assume it is getting warmer and will for the future. One of the things I am sure you know is it is warmer in the Arctic. Notice anything else Bathhouse? It has been cooler below the Arctic circle for awhile, something to do with air current flow and interaction with ocean currents. But even assuming the entire world is warming forever, why is it those who grow grapes in one of the world’s great growing areas, Burgundy, are not shifting to grapes that mature on a different cycle or perhaps even pulling out the vines and planting food stuffs? I will tell you why Bathhouse, because when they review vintage records going back 300 years, they note some cycles have been warm and some downright cold. Ya See Bathhouse, there is a cycle. It is the same cycle that would, as you say today, had many saying 40 years ago the consensus believed we were heading into an ice age.
