That’s one way he could get a seat on Air Force One.

Seriously, Newt is fantastic until he isn’t.

OTOH, a great campaign slogan could be:

“Newt - he got better”

The best idea for Gingrich is to put him somewhere he can advise without actually having any power of his own.

If he picks someone he must “groom to be successor” the media will take the anti-Quayle, anti-Palin approach. Too young, insufficient experience, heartbeat away...

Trump will have to defend his choice no matter who it is, but I doubt he’ll go with (relative) youth and inexperience.

If not Newt it is likely to be a military vet.

I heard Newt on Hannity the other night and what he said is that Trump needs to take the VP pick very seriously and there as VP.

Good point.  In any case, Gingrich is super-comfortable talking to the press and so he's already contributing greatly to Trump as a Washington veteran and rebel.

I think the compatibility is there.  It's just a matter of finding where to fit Gingrich in a Trump administration.

And can you imagine a Rubio or Cruz doing this selection process and bringing the GOPe onboard.  I can't.  This is a case where a gifted negotiator and CEO of a large organization really helps.

Like Reagan and George Washington, Trump has the gravitas.

Early on I was hoping for a Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz ticket.

Now I'm Trump/anybody but Cruz

Trump could use someone who could deal with congress. That is definitely NOT Cruz.

The Republicans, who Trump is supposed to be a part of, would be openly hostile to the two of them.

Not gonna happen, not gonna happen, not gonna happen, not gonna happen. Cruz with his thumbs in his ears, waving hands.

I’d like to see him as CoS but he’s 72. Isn’t that a VERY busy job for someone his age?

“It’s going to be...I hate to say it...Kasich...for Ohio....”

How about the only Governor standing up to Barack Obama — Hugh McCrory of North Carolina. North Carolina has 15 electoral votes, Ohio 18.

I don't think so.

When does Trump defend? :)

It’s like asking how did Cheney bring in votes, but he did.

Let Newt serve as Congressional Legislative Liason.

Select a younger version of DJT to continue the restoration process.

Gingrich is pursuing it way too aggressively.

Maybe someone will post a few samples of the opposition research we posted on Newt last election. Wasn't pretty.

Trump will go with the one that will bring the most votes. I think that will be Cruz.

what trump gets is an bump across the country of 10-15 percent...he is probably the most solid pick as far as the perception of the electric.

I like John Bolton, however I don’t want him to be part of the Trump administration.

As an adviser certainly. But no top level cabinet position. SCOTUS pick perhaps.

Finally, a voice of sanity regarding Gingrich.

Thank you.

We MUST win this election. That criteria FAR outweighs any other in a VP choice.

Therefore, without question, the following should NEVER be chosen:

Gingrich
Hunter
Sessions
Cruz
Demint
