A handgun was stolen from the back pocket of a legal gun carrier at a Phoenix McDonalds on Saturday, 30 April, about 3:45 p.m.
In a nation of millions of gun carriers, strange things happen. Both concealed carriers and open carriers have had handguns stolen from them in the past. Concealed carry handguns are usually stolen after the gun is discovered during a robbery or assault. Open carriers guns have been stolen in a couple of armed robberies. One of those was when the openly carried gun was required to be unloaded by law. One concealed carriers gun was stolen after it was noticed by a thief; the permit holder was then shot when he pursued the suspect. The carrier in this case pursued the suspect, but was not shot. From fox10phoenix.com:
The male suspect came up behind him and stole the gun from his back-pocket holster and then fled the store.
The victim chased down the suspect, but the suspect then pointed the weapon at the victim, and then ran off.
The suspect is described as a black man, 18-to-25-years-old, about 60″ to 62, and about 160 pounds.
I did not see any evidence of a holster. As noted in the commentary by the officer, there does not appear to be any retention, other than gravity, of the handgun.
Note the line of the T shirt falls below the top of the back pocket on the right side. Both legs of the victim are bent; this may have contributed to the exposure of the pistol butt.

Alien Gear.
Then there are guns stolen out of cop cars and government vehicles.
Maybe another fast and furious. Pretend gun owners getting their gun stolen and given to Mexican criminals.
I carry in an Alien Gear IWB. Love it.
Some one forgot the BARF alert. McD’s is a GUN FREE ZONE. Boycott list http://www.2acheck.com/the-boycott-list/
My every day carry is a Glock 19 in an Alien Gear IWB at 4:30.
Not here in AL. I carry concealed or openly every time I go in McDonald’s.
None of the McD's in my area have posted any signs stating guns are unwelcome.
Good choices. I just got an Alien Gear belt, and I have to tell you, I am SOLD. I cannot believe it has a steel interior, as pliable as this belt it. Yet it holds my Glock 19 in a Concealment Solutions Black Mamba IWB holster like a champ!
When I am carrying openly, I am carrying in a retention holster, the Safariland ALS. And I shoot the same holster in USPSA, and have practiced drawing quickly while releasing the retention.
McD is gun free? Not where I live. Then again no gun signs on stores and restaurants in Colorado are mere suggestions unlike 30.06/07 signs in Texas. I ccw in all those stores and restaurants unless I am planning to have drinks with dinner. Only time I open carry is hiking and mowing the lawn though I have been tempted a few times just to see how folks might react but it is a level 2 OWB.
In Tennessee which is an open carry state, businesses can post NO GUNS signs and McD’s is one of those places that has them. I know they are franchises, could be a state law issue as we have, businesses are allowed to chose if they want to be a GUN FREE ZONE.
So I boycott them. Just as I will Targets. Nearest one is a 2 hr round trip for me, I live in a Podunk berg that the biggest store is Kroger’s and nail salons.

Springfield Armory XDs in .45. Small pistol ... big holes.
I expected my .45 XDs to beat me to death the first time I shot it, but the recoil wasn’t that bad.
Hornady critical defense cartridges. I’ve heard Remington Ultra is also good for short-barrel guns.
I don’t carry anything in my back pockets.
