Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Are you so blind that you can not see that Trump was a crony capitalist buying influence for 40 years? Trump, to his credit, admits it but guys like you? You will not acknowledge truth. Pathetic.

What's pathetic is the Cruz supporters fail to see his Cruz's faults and his unprincipled conservatism. So many of you are blind by the label of his, "conservate", but he's proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, he is not. Just because he claims the title, does not make it so. Why can't some of you not understand that?

You will see many Trump supporters understand his past sins but they also understand he is just as fed up as most Americans on where this country is headed. He's also had good conservative views for a long, long time. I never bought in to the left's narrative of Trump like Cruz did and took a hold of and ran with the left's lies and deceptions. You saw so many of those lies and deceptions spread here by Cruz supporters. Of course, many were blind to see they were spreading lies for him. That's not very conservative at all.

Both candidates have been vetted here but some of you Cruz supporters have ignored it for whatever reason. There are people wiser than I here and I'm not afraid to humble myself, acknowledge that and refer to their wisdom on the vetting process here.

I will post these again but Cruz supporters seem to ignore the vetting that has gone on here.

I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat. My reply:

Unbelievable!!!
Replace one of the most conservative senators we have with Dewhurst, who was considered the establishment candidate??
Or even Rick “you don’t have a heart” Perry??

If you don’t know what Perry’s “you don’t have a heart” phrase means...look it up.

You need to read up on Trump. Since when does he support universal health care?

Still be a citizen of another country, Canada, when he was elected to the senate was not conservative either. Some people are willing to overlook all that and say it is conservative.

Yet the compilation of consistent, conservative, patriotic public statements by Trump running from 1980 to 2015 are never addressed. Honesty should be a fundamental of conservatism.

Goldman Sachs also ushered us in 0bama so don't give me that crap you're trying to spew. Cruz became party of that corrupt DC cabal during this primary season. Oh and as someone else pointed out about 0bamacare, it's easy to see now that it was all Kabuki Theater.

This is for you too: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3429689/posts?page=101#101

You Cruz supporters continue to spread the left's lies about Trump but that was started when Cruz embraced them and ran with them and snookered people like you. I will repeat, YOU are part of the problem.

LOL, I wasn't the one who bought in to the left's lies and narrative about Trump.

There is only ONE person to blame for that and that is Ted Cruz himself for embracing the lies and getting his followers to spread them.

Peace!

Simple fact, Cruz is more conservative that Trump.

Fact:
Trump supported the assault weapons ban
Trump has donated to the Democrats quite heavily
Trump supports universal health care
Trump has received hundreds of millions of loans from wall street
Trump does not want to fight to overturn Roe vs Wade
Trump has hired illegals to work for his businesses

Trump has a history of being a NY liberal. I pray that he will govern as a conservative. If he is going to be successful, he is going to need conservatives in the Senate. Cruz is a solid conservative. Cast him aside and you will damage the ability for Trump to govern as a conservative. But perhaps that is what you want.

You Trumpers have a simple choice. Side with the GOPe which is about 20% of the party and shrinking or side with Conservatives which is the 20% of the party that is growing. No you dont need either to win the nomination. You will need one or the other to win the General. Decide who you want to alienate. Right now, you actions say that you want to alienate conservatives and side with the GOPe.

You Trumpers claim to want to unify the party but you continue to lie about Sen Cruz. You can’t have it both ways. Either you side with the GOPe or you side with conservatives. You will need one or the other to even have a chance at the general election.

Trump will be the nominee!
We can’t have Hillary as president!

But how are you helping by continuing calling Cruz “Lyn’ Ted”...after the primary is effectively over??

Whether you like him or not, Cruz is one of the most reliable conservative senators we have. He stood up when no one else or few others did on certain issues.
Whether you like him or not, if and when Trump is president, he will need conservatives in the Senate and House like Cruz.

The truth has come out about Cruz. Some of you can't stand seeing him vetted for some reason. I was neutral for both candidates when the primary started. If you even bother to check out the vetting that has gone on here, you too will realize Ted Cruz was spreading a bunch of lies but you ignore it and continue to ignore it.

I used to like Ted Cruz until what happened with his campaign and all the lies he spread. That is not conservative principled at all but there are those of you that ignore these things. Now, I really can't stand the guy.

I suggest to go read those links I sent you and catch up to speed. At this point, you Cruz fanatics have become so few, I really don't care if you unite with us or not. Trump is gaining such a broad spectrum of Americans that are fed up with what is going on in government. You are either with us, trying to get this country back on track, or not.

Yall sure do not know anything about business dealings. Business owners donate to the powers that be in order to get business done. It goes on all over this country. It is hard enough to do business but if they do not donate, nothing will ever get done. I do not have much to do with our company but I got a “request” for a few thousand dollars to be able to even see this politician. It is just the way things are done. I can not imagine what owners have to go through in NY.

Funny, the reason that I didnt support Trump was because of his lies.

In February, for example, Trump told a story about how a young U.S. Gen. John Pershing supposedly dealt with captured Muslim terrorists in the Philippines: “He took 50 men and he dipped 50 bullets in pigs’ blood . . . And he had his men load his rifles, and he lined up the 50 people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the 50th person, he said: You go back to your people, and you tell them what happened. And for 25 years, there wasn’t a problem.”

Numerous commentators pointed out this was an urban legend with no basis in history. Yet Trump went right on repeating it.

This same willful ignorance was on display last fall when Trump claimed that on 9/11 he had witnessed “thousands and thousands” of people in Jersey City cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center. Reporters and local officials came forward to show that this never happened. But instead of admitting that he was wrong, Trump — who says he has “the world’s greatest memory,” despite in February supposedly knowing “nothing about” David Duke — doubled down on his erroneous assertion.

When The New York Times reported that he’d threatened imposing a 45% tariff on Chinese goods, Trump emphatically said, “That’s wrong.” The Times produced the audio. It was exactly right.

Trump lied about Sen Cruz’s campaign running the ad about his wife.

I think Cruz has really dirtied his nose during these primaries and he will be lucky to be re=elected to a second term unless he does exemplary work in the Senate meanwhile. I thought he was a worthy candidate to run for President, and have done a complete about face about the man. If I were Texan, I would be annoyed that he left his position to run for President while only a short time in his term. Who does he think he is...Obummer?

I have pretty much had all you Trumpsters pleading that Ted Cruz is the anti Christ BS than I can handle.

Cruz will come back home to Texas, we will re elect him to the Senate where he will continue to defend the Constitution.

We will see how well your reality show New York City Realtor does.

Thank you very much.

So you are going to trust a site that has Ben Shapiro as one of its major contributors???

LOL! You really are not up to speed at all, are you?

You never read those links I sent you, did you. I know you didn’t because you would understand, the leftist media and the GOPe media spreads lies and deceptions about Trump.

I’ll trust the wisdom of Free Republic and the vetting of candidates, over any site that has Ben Shapiro as one of their major contributors.

Face it, Cruz lost, let it go!!!
