Texas has quietly reached a milestone: More than a million residents now have handgun licenses, one of the biggest citizenries in the country authorized to carry concealed and unconcealed firearms. Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, is one of them, as is the states only living former Democratic governor, Mark W. White Jr. These license holders, just 3.7 percent of the states 27 million residents, are a symbol of the nations culture wars and a subject of scrutiny, state pride, controversy and curiosity.

Translation: CCW holders in Texas number around the 4th or 5th largest army in the world.
I like Jerry Patterson, I'm glad they got his quote in there are the closing statement.
Liceeeeenses!? We don’t need no steenking liceeeences! (AZ)
In NC if you have a CCW license you can carry a New York reload, more than one handgun.
Curious if that holds true in Texas, other States.
I can carry in Texas by virtue of my Florida permit that I had before I moved here. Know others who have gone that route, so the Florida v Texas numbers may be skewed.
We don’t have them in Texas either. What the NY Slimes mistook for a handgun license is the carry licenses.
New York reload?
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again.
It certainly does in GA. Heck, carry a 6-pack of pistols if you so desire. No limits in the legislation that I know of.
Also, I know many people with carry permits in their own state who also have Florida permits because that used to give you reciprocity in a lot more states even if you weren’t a Florida resident. Don’t know how that plays out now since a lot more states have reciprocity, but know that also skews the Florida numbers. A bunch.
Ah, got it.
In Texas, if you take the shooting test with a revolver, you couldn’t carry a semi-auto. Used to be a few other quirks, but no limit on how many firearms you could carry.
Not sure if that still applies.
The Constitution says nothing about licenses.
Liberal New Yorkers always screw it up. I used to laugh at that CSI:Miami show when they would mention the Suspect A had a permit for his shotgun or whatever. As if anyone needs a permit in Florida to own a shotgun, rifle or handgun. They do that to other states as well. I remeber one show where they talked about people needing permits for guns in New Mexico. LOL!
It does in Illinois.
L
Very few states regulate how many guns you can carry on a license.
A couple of states limit you to the guns that you have listed on the license, but states have moved away from those restrictions.
A surprisingly neutral and non-politicized story given the source.
Actually, no.
Seems the Libtard Newsers forgot to count the more than one thousand fewer criminals permanently dispatched with taxpayer relief shots, the thousands of lives saved, the tens of thousands of crimes deterred, and our falling crime rates.
In other words, if the Slimes were truly unbiased, they would be calling for no gun registration and gun carry everywhere rather than merely reporting a few statistics about CHL requirements here.
Hefty fees for temporary 2A rights.
We have let the 2A go 180’ off course. In a perfect USA, expensive discretionary temporary gun permits would be for felons on probation. The rest of us have full 2A rights and responsibilities.
I haven’t been able to find where Illinois says one way or the other. I guess that means yes.
And yet on any given weekend, I bet that Chicago out-guns all of Texas.
