Who promoted Private Ryan?
World Net Daily ^ | May 9, 2016 | Patrick J. Buchanan

Posted on 05/09/2016 4:31:10 PM PDT by fireman15

Forty-eight hours after Donald Trump wrapped up the Republican nomination with a smashing victory in the Indiana primary, House Speaker Paul Ryan announced that he could not yet support Trump.

In millennial teen-talk, Ryan told CNN’s Jake Tapper, “I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now.”

“[T]he bulk of the burden of unifying the party” falls on Trump, added Ryan. Trump must unify “all wings of the Republican Party, and the conservative movement.” Trump must run a campaign that we can “be proud to support and proud to be a part of.”

Then, maybe, our Hamlet of the House can be persuaded to support the elected nominee of his own party.

Excuse me, but upon what meat has this our Caesar fed?

Ryan is a congressman from Wisconsin. He has never won a statewide election. As No. 2 on Mitt Romney’s ticket, he got waxed by Joe Biden. He was compromise choice as speaker, only after John Boehner went into in his Brer Rabbit “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah” routine.

Who made Ryan the conscience of conservatism?

Who made Ryan keeper of the keys of true Republicanism?

Trump “inherits something … that’s very special to a lot of us,” said Ryan, “the party of Lincoln and Reagan and Jack Kemp.”

But Trump did not “inherit” anything. He won the nomination of the Republican Party in an epic battle in the most wide-open race ever, in which Trump generated the largest turnout and greatest vote totals in the history of Republican primaries.

What is Ryan up to?

“but globalism & cheap labor were more important”

I would say “were more profitable to them”.

If the GOP adopted some of Pat’s platform in the 90s

Even here on FR he was rejected, proves we are slow learner.

Ryan forgets that many of us voted for him and is very weak partner, Mittens Romney, while holding our collective noses. Ryan then turned on all of us rolling over on Obama’s budget deal and assurances that the failed ObamaCare plan would continue. He can at least plug one nostril and support Trump - its the least he can do for us.

A lot of conservatives have issues with populism/nationalism....but times change, and the monsters we face now are anti-national & global. Conservatism alone is/has not been strong enough to deal with this threat.

Surprising. PJB was saying everything Trump is saying 25 years ago. His three book series on immigration, trade and foreign policy were so prescient one might think he had a time machine and cheated.

Anybody in the public eye who suddenly grows a full beard bears careful watching, IMO. No offense to bearded Freepers is intended.

The national Chamber of Commerce for one of the worst.

Basically anyone that makes money on cheap labor and/or illegals purchasing their products and services.

He has definitely softened from his days of calling Capitol Hill “Israeli occupied territory”, threatening to sue David Duke for sounding too much like him, and gushing extremely complementary descriptions of Adolph Hitler.

I used to consider the man a waste of an enviable education, but he’s been nothing short of excellent all election season long so far.

I’m actually a little afraid, but that might be the sleep deprivation talking.

Ryan is trying to be canonized but instead will be Cantorized. Like so many others who have been only 1/10th as smart as they thought they were. They will see just how much they are not valued, by going against the people. That’s what happens when you pretend to be “conservative” and then bow to the opposition party even though you are the majority party, and ignore the people.

“I am predicting Trump will meet and do his best to let this little jack ass save face for the good victory ahead. I don’t like that but it is the “ ART OF THE DEAL” . Go Trump”

I agree. Ryan will end up endorsing him if he saves face, though it will be lukewarm. But that’s another nail in the #NeverTrump coffin.
