House Speaker Paul Ryan opened the door Monday to stepping down as Republican convention chairman if asked by presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, whom Ryan has declined to endorse.

Ryan first made the comments during a meeting with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporters.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Christian Schneider tweeted: “.@SpeakerRyan on whether he'd step down as convention chair if Trump asks: I'll do whatever he asks me to do.”

Asked about the reported comments, a spokeswoman for Ryan confirmed to Fox News: “That is his position, yes.”

Paul again showing how easily and quickly he caves, rather than working with Trump. Paul sounds like the whiny boyfriend who asks his girlfriend if she's really sure she wants to go to the movies with him and is surprised when she tells him she has other plans.

He feels the heat of his primary competition. He is working to try and save that, first and foremost.

Fear not. If he were to win the primary day, he’d be right back at the forefront, trying to cripple Trump.

Effing dirtbag.

Sounds like he is falling in line. Trump should make him wear his Red cap whenever he is out in public.

The problem is that he took a weak stance that he wasn’t willing to follow through on. The cave is just the evidence that the previous decision was a poor one.

The bottom line is that Trump has popular support and Ryan may not even make it through his own primary. Paul Ryan, in the end, leads no one.

Sounds like ‘The Art of The Deal’ is starting to work...

Take him out Trump, he only wants to be re-elected, promises the stars, moon and beyond and then lies, lies, lies...

Wishful thinking, keep trying. The people voted for HIM. It’s not for him to crawl to the ‘party’ that we’ve rejected, it’s up to them to come to US.

40% voted for him.

Has he even attempted to woo any of the 30%+ who voted for Cruz?

Do you care that he’s running towards all positions liberal?

Or are you selling your soul just to win an election?

Paul Ryan went on to say “I’m used to bending over and taking it... “

“I will even change my name to Phillip Mamouf-Wifarts if it helps me stay in office.”

If he can’t even unify his own party, that snowball in hell is now more like a droplet in the desert’s chance of winning in the general election.

He doesn't need to "unify the party"... he needs to run them out of town. "Unifying" the party is politics-speak for caving in to leftist interests... that's the last thing America wants or needs at this point.
