Illegal immigrant households receive an average of $5,692 in federal welfare benefits every year, far more than the average "native" American household, at $4,431, according to a new report on the cost of immigration released Monday.
The Center for Immigration Studies, in an analysis of federal cost figures, found that all immigrant-headed households — legal and illegal — receive an average of $6,241 in welfare, 41 percent more than native households. As with Americans receiving benefits such as food stamps and cash, much of the welfare to immigrants supplements their low wage jobs.
The total cost is over $103 billion in welfare benefits to households headed by immigrants. A majority, 51 percent, of immigrant households receive some type of welfare compared to 30 percent of native households, said the analysis of Census data.
Immigrants receiving the most in the study of 2012 figures come from Mexico and Central America. Their average annual taxpayer funded welfare collection is $8,251, 86 percent higher than the benefits used by native households, said the report.

This doesn’t seem to cover the EITC, which is where immigrants really make out over Americans.
Its a scandal that 30% of US households get Welfare and Food Stamps. Its absolutely obscene that half of illegal immigrant families get them. This really is a deliberate strategy to bankrupt the country — let the whole of South America in and give them thousands of dollars in benefits. The entire political class is a bunch of criminals.
What can Abbott or any Gov. do while BO is in office?
I am confused, why do legal immigrants get any form of public assistance? I thought legal immigrants had to be able to support themselves as a condition of coming here. I suspect many of these are like the family of the Boston bombers, and are actually labeled as refugees.
As to the illegals, of course we have been subsidizing cheap labor for years. Those that support illegal immigration still claim illegals cannot get on social services. Reality is they are on programs in large numbers, many are here for the programs- not for work.
We must remove illegals and take a hard look at those we legally allow to come here.

Add on costs for education, health, community programs, law enforcement, courts, jails, prisons, etc. The cost of having illegals is tremendous.

It’s not enforced at the local level. Welfare programs are distributed usually by counties. I was an eligibility worker for MediCal for our county. I asked and the answer.....we don’t pay any attention to that.

The reality is most of the benefits drawn by illegal aliens are on behalf of their American born children. Sure the illegal benefits but no one ever mentions that.
The figure is yearly, not monthly.
