On Mother's Day, President Obama wants to talk to you about the "diaper gap."

In a post on Medium for the holiday, Mr. Obama explained that many low-income families struggle to afford diapers for their young children, a trend that can lead to health and well-being issues for not only the children but for the mothers.

"I can't imagine what it would have been like to be a parent that has to choose between diapers and other basic expenses," he wrote. "Access to clean diapers isn't just important for a child's health and safety. Research has shown that mothers who are unable to afford diapers for their babies are more likely to suffer from maternal depression and mental health issues."

If only it were sarcasm, seawolf.

I think we need to create a new symbol. /t=that’s the truth.

Anyone can be racist.

The point is to not get too concerned with how a person looks. Rather, a guy should pay more attention to their character and morals.

God did make us all after all.

The proper way to handle the bathroom issue is to have a family/unisex bathroom. I think Kroger did it.

At least they can get diapers...

In that socialist paradise that Barky hopes to model the USA on, Venezuela, there are no diapers to be had. Or feminine hygiene pads.

Plenty of liquor, though.

This really makes me and my daughter angry. She and many other moms who have to watch their budget use cloth diapers. One of the moms on the cloth diaper swap board (yes, there is such a thing) doesn’t have a washer so she washes the diapers in the bathtub and hangs them up to dry. Women who do this save a lot of money, but, of course, they don’t have the luxury of forcing taxpayers to supply them with disposables.

Poor mothers ought to be breastfeeding when possible, too. Taxpayers are shelling out lots of money for bottles and formula so some of these gals (note, I didn’t say all!) can go out and party, leaving the baby with grandma.

If people had to work and pay for what they need and want, they wouldn’t be so likely to have kids they can’t afford to raise. Taxpayers are unwittingly encouraging irresponsible behavior, but that’s what welfare programs do.

I thought leftists and Democrats were opposed to diapers because they filled up landfill, destroyed the environment and caused global warming?

The bad racist horrible diapers that are causing these leftist crises were bought by People of Privilege (probably racists) who earned their own money having an honest job. The good wonderful harmless diapers were also paid for by the racist taxpayers, but they're being supplied to the leftist voter base. Obama is just saying racist-America must atone by buying diapers for his base or else he'll call you a racist.

This gives new meaning to the term, “red doper diaper babies.”

It is kind of misleading to promise a “mens” room (etc.) which ain’t.

POOPING BABIES SUCK.

We have a baby on the way.

ETA 5 weeks.

I am dreading the diaper thing and the expense that comes with it. I am looking for diapers on sale now so as to stockpile. I am a diaper prepper.

I had hoped to train my 5 year old to change the newborns’ diapers, but my wife pointed out that it is merely an opportunity for her to practice her finger painting, so no.

Personally, I think this is all about someone looking for an issue, trying to make some sort of stand on ‘their’ rights.

The main issue is using the facility. So, use the bathroom that creates less drama for the world. Some people have such victim issues that they want the world to recognize and bow to it. Can you imagine if we catered to every little situation that someone perceives needs tailoring to?

Keep it simple, use the family bathroom, and let’s get on with our day.

Make it illegal for anyone making poverty level wages or below to buy tobacco, alcohol, pot (in legal states), cell phones, and cable television service. THERE problem solved, they can them afford diapers, food, and all other basic needs.
