We hate to say we told you so, but, well, we told you so. Cruz wouldn’t be talking this way certainly.

Very progressive for Mr. Trump.

I suggest higher taxes on Trump Wine, Trump Water, Trump Casinos, Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Ties, and ...

With all due respect, I am not really certain what he was talking about.

It's easy for a guy who has spent his life in the real estate industry to think people who make a lot of dough should see their taxes increase. If what he means is get rid of REIT's; tax gains on forced refinancings like Chapter 11's; tax carried interests; get rid of personal use real estate deductions like interest, property taxes, etc.; get rid of the tax free home sale rules (except on direct rollover transactions); get rid of 1031; maybe we have something to talk about.

But the real bottom line is that taxes are too high on cash flow income from capital investments--that's why investor's are not doing deals in the domestic US. Part of making America great again is making the domestic economy a great place to make great investment transactions in again. Taxes are only a part of the story--a significant part; but only one factor.

I am pro Trump. He looks to me like the only candidate who has a chance to save our country and our culture. I think a number of his policy positions don't make sense in the context of that objective--I assume he will adjust in reasonable ways.

"Taxes should go down for everyone and the graduated scale should be tossed out the window. "

That won't help him get those Democrat crossover votes......

Oh, come on! It was a slip of the tongue!

I mean, YOU go around saying “Taxes should be raised” when you mean the exact opposite, right?

And you say, accidentally just like me, “The gov should seize all guns,” when you mean the exact opposite, right?

And we both say, “Abortions should be REQUIRED and tax payer funded,” when you mean the exact opposite, right?

“Waiting for him to walk this back in 3...2..1..”

He stipulates that it would be for people “like me”, always has. He won’t have to walk it back.

Of course, if you like to just read headlines...

I have no idea what his tax plan “purposed” months ago was, however, if his tax plan “purposed” months ago did NOT involve raising taxes on the wealthy, then he HAS changed them. Period.
************************************************

His purposed tax plan is on his website. I would call his new position a pretty big change, since he just disavowed his entire tax plan.

“If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax.
All other Americans will get a simpler tax code with four brackets – 0%, 10%, 20% and 25% – instead of the current seven.”

I watched the interview.

What he actually said is that the higher income brackets may have to go up relative to HIS tax proposal in order to get approved in congress.

Would still be a cut from current rates.

Actually refreshing to have a candidate say upfront that he’d be flexible in order to get a plan passed upfront rather than try to BS the people only to have to backtrack once presented to congress.

He’s been pretty consistent on this..mostly having to do with taxing hedge fund managers and such. All in all though it’s a good strategy. He’ll pull in a lot of crossover votes and it takes away the argument that he only cares about rich people. That’s an argument that few Republicans has been able to counter.

If Trump proposes something that pleases Hillary, Harry Reed, and Bernie, and somebody points it out, is that a Cruzer refighting the primary?

If Trump proposes an assault weapons ban, do we have 2 choices:
1. support it
2. be a tantruming Cruzer refighting the primary

I didn’t see the interview. But I read his tax plan.

He wants to eliminate some loopholes that mostly benefit hedge funds (ie. carried interest taxes, etc).

As another poster noted, Trump didn’t say that he wanted to raise taxes in this interview. He said that his tax cuts might not be as steep as proposed in his plan after it goes through congress.

He most certainly DID say he wants to raise taxes in the interview.

“For the wealthy I think frankly it is going to go up and, you know what, it really should go up,”

How much more clear could it possibly get? I guess it depends on the meaning of “should” and “go up”.

That’s the whole point isn’t it?
He just said that he doesn’t think he needs to unify the party to win, and he doesn’t need conservatives.

Speaking of taxes, there is this nugget of a story:

Someone close to me lost their dad a couple of years ago, but the dad was an immigrant to the US and saved every penny, as so many immigrants do. (India)

Mom, the widow, was so angry over the enormous taxes they had to pay, her hair nearly fell out.(Illinois and fed) She thought the GOP enacted this policy, and was kindly informed that it was the Dems.

Who is she a fan of, in 2016? You guessed it: Bernie Sanders.

I am not making this up.

Not breaking news. But then that never gets in the way of tantrum a Cruzer wants to have.
