Analysis: 11 key states shift toward Democrats
American Thinker ^ | 05/07/2016 | Rick Moran

Posted on 05/07/2016 8:10:50 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Admitting that the political situation is extremely volatile, the non-partisan Cook Political Report has shifted 11 states toward Democrat Hillary Clinton for the November election.

The Hill:

“This has been an exceedingly unpredictable year,” the analyst said. “Although we remain convinced that Hillary Clinton is very vulnerable and would probably lose to most other Republicans, Donald Trump's historic unpopularity with wide swaths of the electorate — women, millennials, independents and Latinos — make him the initial November underdog.”

Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin were all shifted from toss-up states to leaning Democratic. The “solid Republican” states Missouri and Indiana were downgraded to “likely Republican.” New Mexico is now solidly Democratic, and North Carolina is a toss-up after leaning Republican.

The analyst also shifted Arizona and Georgia from likely Republican to leaning Republican.

Cook also moved one House race toward Democrats: Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, which was considered solid for Republicans and is now classified as a toss-up race.

Maine’s 2nd District was the only reclassification that favored the GOP, going from solid Democrat to likely Democrat. The Report classifies congressional districts in Maine and Nebraska because they are the only two states that don’t award their Electoral College votes on a winner-take-all basis.

Take this survey as a starting point for Trump.  It highlights the fact that it will be an uphill battle for the Republican to overcome his historic negatives in order to win the White House.

It can be done, but Trump has to either shore up his support among millenials, minorities, and especially women or find a way to depress the turnout for those groups.  The latter might be easier considering what Trump has been saying on the campaign trail.

Anything can happen - but OH, PA, VA and FL have been blue for the past few election cycles.

You can’t ignore history. I remember when people on here four years ago deluded themselves with talk Mittens would win.

They ignored evidence to the contrary, like polls and prediction market surveys that showed Obama consistently leading all year.

Mittens in fact never did take the lead. The Cook report is highly respected and its human nature to dismiss or explain away unpleasant news.

If the election was held today, Hillary would win. That is a fact. And Trump is starting out as the underdog. This is not 1980.

An aricle with a vastly differing viewpoint:
The Voting Bloc EVERY Pundit Never Discusses – “The Monster Vote”
A few months before the primary season began, before Iowa cast its first vote, we pointed out this video (below) and the message it contains.

The “Monster Vote” is the voting bloc of those who had turned away from politics; those how gave up, and/or just never voted in the first place. This video was/is prescient in retrospect when you consider the record-breaking volume of primary voters who have turned out to support Donald Trump…………………….

………………………Records are being broken, but no-one is discussing why. Donald Trump is not just getting republicans, independent and some democrat voters – He’s turning out the monster vote. Venues with 10,000…. 15,000… 20,000,… 30,000,… even 40,000 are being filled in a PRIMARY contest. A friggin’ “primary” contest !!................................

Read the Democrat blogs. They are terrorized at the thought of running against Trump.

Even they are not believing these polls.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, not just Donald Trump. Do you honestly think that any of our leaders/candidates are any less sinners than Donald Trump? Their sins are just not public knowledge, that is the only difference. Indeed I suspect their corruption is far far worse than Donald Trump’s philandering when he was young man.

“Otherwise, one has no justification to promote some sinner because God — Just Might — select that sinner to further His ends. To do so is presumptive.”

So what about the Apostle Paul then, who held the cloaks of the men who stoned the first martyr, the Apostle Steven, to death? Paul, God’s theologian, and Apostle to the Gentiles. Paul said he was “the chief of sinners.”

The problem here is, God does not have any perfect people whatsoever. If He required people to be perfect to get anything done, nothing would get done. All God has are sinners, starting with Adam and Eve. Again remember, what the Apostle Paul said, “All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.”

Was David perfect? Was Solomon perfect? Was Moses perfect? Was Noah perfect? Were any of the Apostles perfect? Are you without sin?

(There is only One who is perfect.)

That’s because we are ALL sinners.

A man like Trump is seen as a sinner.

A preacher like man is seen as a saint.

Only God realizes they are both sinners.

Sometimes the pretender is actually worse.

Mittens came very close to winning. He lost through a combination of factors: stupid commrnts, a breakdown of their computer sydtem, the damn hurricane and the idiot he selected as a running mate.

>>> Trump has to either shore up his support among millenials, minorities, and especially women... <<<

Big government liberals target groups with a message of individual handouts, real conservatives target everyone with a message of individual liberty.

Yes, we have done so well with our last two candidates and the two times before that we won by overwhelming landslides. /sarc

So let’s just keep doing what we have been doing for about 24 years and see if things turn out any different. Crazy!

GO TRUMP!

“But I would add to those “holier than thou” Christians who decry Trump for his rather checkered romantic past and his rather exuberant freedom of speech to remember that none of us are perfect, and God sometimes uses amazingly imperfect people to create very good things, indeed.”

Agree with this, and would point out that the other side has Hillary Clinton who is anything but an icon of holiness. Actually, I would bet that if the lives of many well-known politicians were laid bare, many would be shocked at what they'd see.

Been there, done that.

Ballots are not counted at the polls. We took them to the County seat and there the highly qualified* election officials counted the ballots.

* Highly qualified = political appointee.

Been through that and been through recounts where more people voted than were registered. The Dems beat Col. West by rigging the vote.

Florida, unfortunately, has been “Californiaized” by the open border Rinos and dems. We’ve had such a large influx of Puerto Ricans that have resettled in the once solid republican I-4 corridor, that it’s now leaning dem. Additionally, the large influx of Mexicans and new Cubans (who love socialism, unlike the prior waves) have turned Miami-dade into a dem stronghold. Like California, demographics have changed the State for the worse. Trump will need at least 500,000 more former dem voters or previously non-voters to come forward and vote for him if he’s going to take this State. The open borders scum have achieved their goal and transformed many formerly red states. This election is probably our last hope to reverse this, if at all.

“The Cook report is highly respected and its human nature to dismiss or explain away unpleasant news.”

Yes, it is human nature to dismiss or explain away unpleasant news, and this is precisely what many on the left (and some of on the right) are doing to comfort themselves against the reality of the possibility that Donald Trump could become President. The Cook Report analysis is based on assumptions that may or may not be true anymore, and assumes that voting blocks are monolithic. Trump has the ability to split those blocks, more than any other candidate the Republicans have run in decades. My impression is that many in the political establishment (candidates, party operatives, and pundits) don’t get it - which is why they were blindsided. Many of them too are trying to ‘dismiss or explain away’ something they didn’t anticipate or understand.

There have been plenty on the left who have voiced fear that Trump can win, because they recognize that he is capable of appealing to many within the usual democrat voting blocks.

Biggest reason is he backed away from the kill after he had Obama on the ropes. He was a WIMP! Trump is a welcome relief from the sugar babies who have been running things. Nice to have a John Wayne type back at the front of the pack.
