I like your insight.

I would also strongly recommend Trump’s book “Surviving at the Top.” Wow. that book convinces me that he is not in this for the power. He already has power, and notoriety, and wealth. He has not self-destructed in the face of possessing those things. He writes about how one can nurture self-humanity in the face of these truly great challenges if you want to achieve a pinnacle.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely” is a very well known statement and is a common route people who obtain power take, whether it is a politician or a Big Frog at the state drivers license place or in your office. So many people cannot handle power. But there ARE those rare exceptions where we see people who demonstrate mastery over the levels of power they have. While I’m not necessarily placing Donald Trump in this category - yet - one exception to the rule of letting power corrupt is our beloved George Washington. He turned down the full power of a King.

I hope and pray that this is the kind of champion we have selected in Donald Trump. I think we have, but we have to hide and watch and pray as it all unfolds.

For the record, I am "working class conservative base." And I dislike being told that some politician is "worried about my job." They are not. They are worried about my vote. I will vote for Trump, even though he may cost me my manufacturing job. The one FReepers think he's "saving." And that bothers me even more.

I’m calculating that Trump values my job at zero, and your vote higher.

Thanks, I appreciate that. After rereading my own post, I felt I left it on the wrong note, suggesting that the Conservative Movement is a failure because it hasn’t stopped the ascendency of leftism.

I think in one way though, it’s been resounding success; namely, as a repository of the wisdom of the Founders, the “keeper of the flame”, if you will. Preserving the truth and passing it down through the generations is of utmost importance.

We may not need a philosophic conservative as President at this moment, but the Conservative Movement is essential and I’m a believer!

My thoughts exactly.
I wanted him out before Trump was running.
He does not represent the conservatives.
Please, lets send him home to his family.

He is a Romney fall out, complete failure.
Why is Romney so involved in the election, do you recall the 2012 election? Romney the failure.
Now he wants to meddle in 2016, tell him to go home, who wants him.
And, take Paul Ryan with you.
What losers.

Pierson has been almost 99% right in every answers she’s given in the campaign.

Ryan isn’t fit to be speaker regardless of his support or non-support of Trump.

Funny how the establishment is throwing a fit over Trump but the last two elections were McCain/0 and Romney/0. Let’s send up the biggest loser RINOs we can find, that will win elections. Oh, that’s right, the Repubs aren’t about winning elections. They love being a lame-duck party where the president doesn’t even submit a budget, congress writes him a blank check, and congressional Repubs get to treat congress as a no-show job because they can meet any call to do anything with “we don’t have the votes”. Every damn one of them should be in prison for failure to meet even the most basic requirements of their jobs.
