Trucated title.

Full title:

Mitt Romney met privately with William Kristol, who is leading the effort to draft an independent candidate

In spite of his insistence that he will not run, Mitt Romney is being courted this week by a leading conservative commentator to reconsider and jump into the volatile 2016 presidential race as an independent candidate.

William Kristol, the longtime editor of the Weekly Standard magazine and a leading voice on the right, met privately with the 2012 nominee on Thursday afternoon to discuss the possibility of launching an independent bid, potentially with Romney as its standard-bearer.

“He came pretty close to being elected president, so I thought he may consider doing it, especially since he has been very forthright in explaining why Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton should not be president of the United States,” Kristol said in a phone interview Friday, during which he confirmed that he and Romney had a “little meeting in Washington.”

The Republicans who’re now opposing Mr. Trump and saying they won’t vote for him, ] will vote for the Witch, and/or are contemplating a third party run against him are not just indulging themselves in evil, infantile, self-destructive tantrums. Instead, and far worse, their actions are un-American and anti-constitutional. They propose to enable an habitual criminal to become President and to assure that anti-American communist criminal will be able to remake the Constitution in her own vile form by appointing as many as five Supreme Court justices, who will hold their positions for the next generation. Nothing could be worse.

It is obvious the Republican Party “elite” are Liberals. All this talk of “conservative principles” is just so much bull****. The only thing that distinguishes the Republican Party Liberals from the ‘Rat Party Liberals is the GOPe fondness for interventionist wars. Other than that they are identical.

The Bushies, the Romneys, the McCains, the Grahams, the Ryans of the Republican Party have no intention of EVER supporting Trump and many, if not all of them, will cast their vote for Hillary.

May they all rot in hell.

I think this is it, ditto with Yeb

These sons from political dynasties are raised to think they are entitled to public office like a birthright and they are contemptuous of the nouveaus who work their way to the top

I wish I could open a little door and look inside their heads to see how they twist logic into pretzels. Getting from shattered records in regard to primary votes won to he’s just not electable is quite interesting. Of course we know they are just looking for an acceptable way to tell us to eat our peas....again.

Actually, it's the Ross Perot effect, so that it siphons off enough votes to get Hillary (or Biden, et al) elected, yet shifts the blame to the 3rd party candidate.

The problem is, the electorate is onto the game and i am sure they are having trouble finding some with enough star power willing to kabuki themselves politically to run as a viable candidate.

They may pull something off, but I doubt it will work this time. However, stranger things have happened.

What is so special about Hillary? The only thing that makes her special is she is a mother and grandma.

Romney will be laughed off the stage. Trump will think of one word to tag him and it’ll be over.

Good Morning Miss M,

I nominate the following monikers for Trump to use on Romney:

* 'The Choker' (from his dismal debate performance in 2012)

* 'Mitt-Witt' (I claim credit for creating this one lol)

* 'Willard the Rat' (especially effective)

Hope your weekend is starting off well!

Kristol, like Levin is afraid Israel or jews will lose control of the US govt. I support Israel, but its time for a change. The world is not all about them. Throw the bums out.

Run Rom.

You could be the hat-trick loser.

Romney-Bush. Yeah, that would probably get 3% of the vote.

First, I don’t believe Jews control the US government - that’s nasty stuff.

Secondly, Trump will be as good to Israel as most if not better. I suspect better.

Kristol may be book smart but he’s proven over the years to be lacking in any common sense or good judgment. Levin is now off his rocker.

Paul Ryan should join them, because his republican challenger in WI is going to kick his sorry ass.

a leading conservative commentator

Republicans and media throw the word 'conservative' around so much, they don't even know what it is.

They use it as a litmus word they invoke like they do the name "Reagan."

Notice how several major Republican politicians have had to define their own brand of conservatism:

GW Bush: compassionate conservative
Romney: seriously conservative
J Bush: reform conservative
