Does Jeb Bush's Word Mean Anything? Apparently Not
PJ Media ^ | May 6, 2016 | Michael Walsh

Like father, like son: Poppy Bush looked the American people square in the eye and said, "Read my lips: no new taxes." Of course, the former Director of Central Intelligence welshed, because lying is what he did for a living. Now comes his son Jeb, who raised his hand and pledged to support the eventual nominee of the Republican party in the race for president, back when he thought he had a chance. Naturally, the chip off the old block has reneged.

In a Facebook post, Bush announced that he could not in good conscience vote for Donald Trump, saying Trump has not demonstrated the “temperament or strength of character” needed to lead the United States. In doing so, Bush became the latest member of his family to publicly refuse to back the real estate magnate. He also is the second former presidential candidate, along with Lindsey Graham, to break the pledge all the candidates made, back in the fall of 2015, to support the eventual nominee. The pledge, of course, was designed to keep Trump from bolting the GOP and launching a third-party bid, which the RNC feared would scuttle the GOP’s chances of winning the general election. So far, no one seems too concerned that a Bush/Graham third-party ticket could do the same.

In Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece, The Wild Bunch, two outlaws played by William Holden and Ernest Borgnine have a brief but telling exchange about a man's word and what it means. Hardly surprising that there was more honor in this rum crew of dead-end bandits than there is in the entire Bush family. If Trump does nothing else, destroying the unaccountable hold the Bushes have had on the GOP and the country should earn him the thanks of a grateful nation. And if he can destroy the Clintons, too... bonus.

He was a good governor of Florida who got Peter principled and in over his head, and now it’s sad to say he’s gone from Peter principled to plain unprincipled.

Ryan’s means nothing either as he also agreed to support the nominee.

I am a making a mental list of all the people who aren’t supporting Trump in the GOP so that I never vote for a single one of them ever for anything.

Imagine if they had opposed Obama with the intensity of the way they are opposing trump, then they might have actually accomplished something instead of just being cowardly a$$holes.

Even Jeb’s word means little.

Does mrtippy toes low energy still have on his bigboy pants? PPPft to you iJeb. That goes for the rest of the Bushes. One of the great things I will never have to hear...Bush 45th prez of USA!

You know he has nightmares about this election cycle. I bet he wakes up in a cold sweat with images of Trump. You know he still has no clue why he didn’t get more votes. That also pleases me greatly.

That low enegy tag will haunt him for the rest of his days. LOL! 100million dollar canidate. LOL.

Funny how some proclaim to be so concerned about setting an example for our children. I guess lying doesn’t fall into that category.

The entire Bush family will convene this Mother’s Day and enjoy a buffet of Tea & Sympathy followed by extra large portions of Crow, served cold.

August 6, 2015, the first GOP debate, all ten of the candidates, including Heb Arbusto, agreed to support the eventual nominee.
Except for the only honest one: Donald Trump.
Later the GOP got him to agree, and he agreed upon the condition that he was treated fairly.
Then they tried everything possible to screw him.
It’s not difficult to understand why Trump doesn’t like politicians.

Great article...the Bushes are the worst family in the history of this country. I’d take Benedict Arnold five times before a Bush. They are our Borgias...corrupt to their black souls.

Absolutely, and this is an up close and personal example.

I will believe that you did not make that statement up entirely out of thin air if Terri Schiavo also says Yeb! was a good governor.

A perfect summary. (I sure wish this forum had a "like" button.)
