Churchill was given honorary citizenship for the great man that he was. Churchill refused to bow to Hitler and brought Great Britain through the war through his pugnacious and brilliant intelligence in face of disaster. There is One other honorary citizen of the united States. He was an immense help to America during our war for independence, The Marquis de Lafayette.

I know why Churchill was given an honorary citizenship, the point was that he wasn't considered an American citizen even though he had an American mother.
Why is Cruz considered an American?
