With Donald Trump now the presumptive Republican nominee, the various #NeverTrump forces are pondering everything Thursday from enlisting first-term Sen. Ben Sasse to avoiding the White House battle altogether.

Sasse, a Nebraska Republican, has emerged as a central figure in the movement. He wrote a Facebook post early Thursday arguing for an alternative candidate to Trump and Clinton, which had garnered more than 6,400 likes by late morning.

"Why shouldn't America draft an honest leader who will focus on 70% solutions for the next four years? You know ... an adult?" Sasse wrote.

At this point, any of this will only help Hillary get elected. This is what these people need to ponder.

Do they really want to get President Hillary Clinton? Then they should come out and say so, instead of pretending otherwise, but still trying to prevent Trump from being able to beat Hillary and win the election.

why do they have to say the obvious.

It’s like hitting someone with a bat and telling them that you are.

This piece of @#$@#$ should go crawl under a rock.

and 6400? that’s like 0 in today’s world.

The choice has already been made.

the NRSCC already emailed me about supporting them, now that Trump has won.

I wrote back “GFY”

I think they do want Hillary because it keeps their secrets safe and pocketbooks full.

Ben Sasse is evil. He needs to start wondering if he will even get re-elected for his Senate seat.

Vote for Trump but make sure there is a conservative Congress pushing him right.

At this point any of this will only help hillary get elected.

They WANT hillary to get elected. She's one of them. It was supposed to be a situation (Jeb vs the crone) where they'd already won!

This is an argument for us to get independents and Sanders supporters to vote for Trump. If they do this or declare they're voting for hillary, it means the elite are working together because the Clintons are part of the elite globalist ruling class that has to be removed from DC!

Sasse is disgusting. He was one of those guys who needed our help, to go to DC and change things.

What movement? I have never heard of him.

With little name recognition he doesn’t have a chance.

These same people were fine and dandy with John McCain and Mitt Romney when they ran, tells you everything you need to know. If Ted Cruz had been the nominee I would have walked over broken glass and hot coals to vote for him, that’s because I see the BIG PICTURE, if Hillary Clinton OR Bernie Sanders become President, say goodbye to your guns and to your freedom..Clinton has already made it perfectly clear she wants an Australia type gun ban, will these same people who want a 3rd Party be happy with their guns being taken away, if that is what they want let Clinton take them

Um, Yes.

The GOPe and Bosses are perfectly fine with a loss.

Why? Because what difference would it make? Hillary is Pres? oh no....They still have their Buffets, Their Crackers and Cheese and they get to go to Nine Rivers Country Club every Sunday, so shut up base.

The GOP-e would rather have Hitlery than Trump. That way they get to keep their positions - maybe as a minority - and they have four years to get ready to run another GOP-e candidate.

THE PROBLEM WITH THEIR THEORY IS THERE WILL BE NO UNITED STATES OF AMERICA LEFT AFTER FOUR YEARS OF SHRILLARY. NO ONE CAN HONESTLY CALL THE GOP-E ABLE AND CAPABLY STRATEGISTS AND CERTAINLY NOT NEGOTIATORS.

We have the choices of hundreds of thousands if not millions of voters being challenged by a very few political class weenies. This, in a land where we were told anyone can grow up to be president.

Where has my country gone?

What happened to Nebraska? This idiot, Tom Daschle, the Chuck Hagel... For a sparsely populated state, they seem to have a high percentage of elected idiots over time.

I agree.

There is evidence:

GOPe is in bed with the Democrats for a Hillary presidency.

This is getting downright comical seeing people here on FR and elsewhere keep trying again and again to ignore that Trump won, Cruz was thoroughly rejected, and Trump is now the presumptive nominee. It's over folks, the fat lady is done singing.

Today's choice is simply Trump or Clinton. ANY action other than supporting and voting for Trump is helping Clinton.

This is the best bad idea we have, sir. By far.

Don’t worry. It’s nothing but a toothless threat. Since a independent campaign would have to build all it’s infrastructure from scratch, even the New York Times says it would take $1 Billion dollars to run a viable independent campaign. Not to mention most states have difficult to achieve petition rules to even get on the ballot and deadlines that quick approaching. And lets be honest, all these whining radio talk show host and conservative pundits, and even filthy rich people like the Koch brothers value their money to much to throw away their own money for a cause that in the end a fool’s errand that is doomed to fail.
