I don't believe they have as much power as they think they do. Few will openly exit, those that do, like Kristol and Sasse, are irrelevant on their own. They need enough like-mined soldiers if they are to continue to thwart the will of the people.
Too bad Kristol didn't reveal names of the other people in his camp, in addition to the Bush family, Romney, Sasse and Mattis.

He knows how bad Hillary will be. He is assessing the x% chance that Trump could be worse.
They tried it with Reagan, too. John Anderson, a liberal Republican, was set up to prevent a Reagan win. Wasn’t enough, Reagan won a landslide.
I hope he succeeds. I don’t think a 3rd party “Republican” candidate will hurt Trump.
The Bush family has already made it clear they will not back Trump. They will back a third party “Republican” even if he/she/it has no chance of winning. Their support may be covert, or may even be open. Likewise for politicians like Graham, McCain, and most of the GOPe.
The GOPe would rather elect Hillary than lose their power in Washington. They’ve made that abundantly clear already.
As for rank and file “Republicans”, those who will vote for a protest candidate instead of Trump would either not vote, or vote for Hillary instead of Trump anyway.
Likewise for the Democrats. Some Sanders supporters who can’t stand Hillary will either not vote, or have an easier time voting against her with a protest candidate than voting for Trump.
So having a protest candidate reduces Hillary’s support from both parties.
Bring it on!

Bernie Sanders would be an excellent third party candidate.
The Kristols, Krauthammer’s, Will’s, National Reviews of this world are scared to death they will become irrelevant soon, want to hang on as long as possible. Once Trump is elected, Fox News will no longer have them on as they will have no insider knowledge.

They don’t have to ruin. Hussein will do that for them between November and January, the economic part at least, and ths social portion with EO after EO or maybe just one massive 10000 page EO. Perhaps there will be a huge “bailout” of every bankrupt entity in the world.
