A Florida man was arrested Monday and is facing charges for allegedly attempting to steal a snake from a Saint Petersburg pet store.
Pinellas County deputies said the suspect, identified as Travis Treder, walked into an Animal House Pet Center and stuffed a baby python down his pants.
Employees of the pet center saw Treder attempting to steal the snake and tried to stop him from leaving the building. Police say Treder shoved a pet store worker to the ground.
Pet store staff were, eventually, able to restrain the suspect, pinning him to the ground and tying him up with zip ties until police arrived on scene.
The python is worth $149 dollars, the pet store owner said. It is unclear what the mans motives for stealing the snake were.
Treders charges include petty theft and resisting a merchant.

Nope. WAAAAYYYY to easy....
Was it really a python in his pants or was he just really happy to see someone?
“Hey, baby, I got a python in mah pants.”
This should be an interesting thread.
The old snake in the pants routine........
Can you account for your whereabouts when this happened?
Obviously this sort of behavior is an attempt to compensate for other inadequacies.
Did he have cup protection?
He was just trying to get a good squeez.
I don’t need to put a python in my pants. It’s just not my bag, baby.
I had a customer steal a shark in a slurpee cup. Saw him do it. Made him drink from the cup. He gagged and spilled the shark on the floor. The shark survived. Thief suffered lacerations to the tongue. No charges needed.
Look at him is he a Trump or Hillary voter
Looks like drugs to me
Putting the bite on crime.
Well, I’m not a man, so there’s that.
This happens *all the time*.
Every reptile expo has at least one critter stolen from the tables.
Sometimes, they’re insanely expensive animals.
The latest was a rare morph of a Bearded Dragon, jacked from a CA shop.
The owners shared the security video on all the FB reptile forums and a couple days later, the lizard was back.
It broke my heart to see her owner crying and begging for her return.
Understand it or not, but these people love their herps like the rest of us love our dogs.
Low hanging fruit.....too easy, not going to touch that with a ten foot pole. HA! two in one sentence.
Like the one-eyed trouser snake? High school stuff, long ago.
I’ve put a tiger in my tank, but never...
