Donald J. Trump is now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, but he is also keenly aware that many in his own party and many Americans, frankly are scared and anxious about the idea of him in the Oval Office. Even he is not sure how a deeply divided nation would adjust to the first 100 days of a Trump presidency.
What he does know, however, is what he wants to do in those early months. In a series of recent interviews, he sketched out plans that include showdowns with business leaders over jobs and key roles for military generals, executives and possibly even family members in advising him about running the country.
Shortly after the Nov. 8 election, President-elect Trump and his vice president most likely a governor or member of Congress would begin interviewing candidates for the open Supreme Court seat and quickly settle on a nominee in the mold of Justice Antonin Scalia.
...
On Inauguration Day, he would go to a beautiful gala ball or two, but focus mostly on rescinding Obama executive orders on immigration and calling up corporate executives to threaten punitive measures if they shift jobs out of the United States.
...
On his first day in office, he said, he would meet with Homeland Security officials, generals, and others he did not mention diplomats to take steps to seal the southern border and assign more security agents along it. He would also call the heads of companies like Pfizer, the Carrier Corporation, Ford and Nabisco and warn them that their products face 35 percent tariffs because they are moving jobs out of the country. Democrats and some Republicans have warned that financial markets would react poorly and that Mr. Trumps protectionist stances might plunge the country into recession

The New York Times is not far from being a monthly free paper available in stacks as you exit Manhattan supermarkets, and almost nowhere else.
You ain’t alone there, Gracie G... :^)

Most of it does not appear to be quotes but someone’s paraphrasing, summation, or interpretation of Trump interviews.

I searched and couldn’t find them.
This, I think, is the lesson from the Obama administration.
Few people realized just how much can be done by the Executive Branch via its control of all the bureaucratic minions in the agencies and departments. Replace them from the top down until you get to the level of 9-5ers with no vested interest in how things have always been done and who are gung-ho to get a promotion and do it your way.
Regulations that were devised and issued by agencies can be eliminated or rewritten by those same agencies under new management. Those that are not in the spirit of the laws passed by Congress can be struck down. Those that favor particular persons, groups or businesses either by name or by virtue of them being inapplicable to anyone else should be struck down. Many regulations were lobbied for by one business leader to create barriers to entry against competitors — making the only “legal” way to do something the way the lobbyist’s client already does it.
If I were Trump, I would appeal to the greed of the bureaucrats. Offer bonuses for identifying regulations that conflict with the laws actually passed by Congress or that were obviously written to favor particular actors. Same for cost-savings. I call it the “Dog-Eat-Dog Rule” after Atlas Shrugs but with an entirely different meaning. Offer government employees bonuses and raises based on ACTUAL cost savings — including reduced staff and cheaper vendors — and watch them cut each others’ throats.
That would be the one of the best strategic moves he could make. I am no fan of BJ Clinton but the firing of the US attorneys was a very astute move on Clinton's part. Give the devil his due, Bill could be a very clever politician at times. Hillary not so much.
I believe the republicans in congress will fall in line. They don’t want Trump endorsing and campaigning with their opponents in the next primary.
More free publicity for Trump!
Keep it coming losers!
just a reminder I am not reganaut1
Trump already explicitly said that he will work with Congress on changing our laws like this, if necessary. He, however, does not think this will be necessary in most cases. He believes threatening something like this would make moving out of the country potentially too expensive and costly for U.S. companies, so they will simply stay here and no tariff will be needed (and many tens of thousands of mostly good paying jobs overall will be saved).
Perhaps if you listened to what Trump says instead of the NY Slimes’ reinterpretations you would already know this. (And what “investment” do you believe will be possible when most of our businesses have moved abroad? All Trump is talking about is giving business incentives to stay here in the form of large-scale corporate tax cuts and fewer regulations coupled with disincentives to move, especially when they hurt the country in doing so.)
I’m on my phone I’ll look tomorrow
... and THIS, mind you, is what National Review, Hot Air, RedState, Ricochet, George Will, and all the other assorted #NeverTrump grubs, mites and lice are fighting tooth and nail to see DEFEATED -- !!!
In order to "save conservatism."
They keep saying.
“What law gives the President the power to impose 35% tariffs on companies “moving jobs out of the country”? “
Maybe you should become more familiar with our laws before spouting such ignorance.
I just checked for the Hydrox cookies and they are currently unavailable. I signed up for an alert when they are available again.
Put up or shut up. What is the law?
“Put up or shut up. What is the law?
Put up or shut up? Listen, moron, you’re the one claiming the President doesn’t have the authority. People have posted the laws. Try reading instead of emotionally reacting like a stupid liberal.
You’re just an anti-Trump bigot, so piss off!
You are an idiot yourself, so same to you!
