Ben Sasse: I said I was #NeverTrump and I meant it [R-NE]
Hot Air ^ | May 4, 2016 | Allahpundit

I remember grassroots conservatives celebrating when he was elected two years ago because it meant adding another Republican to the Senate who takes his principles seriously. Now here’s Sasse last night reiterating that he takes his principles seriously enough not to vote for a big-government liberal just because he’s the party’s nominee and he’ll be excoriated for it.

Oh well. The principled choice is rarely the popular one.

Senator Ben Sasse is wholly owned by the Ricketts Family

Nebraska is so small he can do what he wants to there. My Plan and I already did it, to get Ben Sasse attention, I have contacted my GOP Senate Candidate and House Representative that as long as Sasse is not acting as a Republican I can't vote for them

Confused, but opinionated; wrong--flat out wrong--but too stubborn to actually look at the subject, as opposed to spouting off about the subject. The Senator undermines his credibility.

Trump's stands in this campaign are demonstrably to the right of most of the other candidates. But by cherry picking data out of context, the die hard Trump haters can reinforce their initial bias. This is sad, but still obvious.

Trump defeated Cruz--who was the one candidate arguably as Conservative as Trump--because he succeeded in better focusing the issues that Conservatives wanted addressed at this moment in time. What are those issues?

Certainly immigration and unfavorable trade policies were near the top of the list. But Trump also clearly distanced himself from the rest of the pack, by his fearless rejection of the "politically correct" social mandate that has been stifling dissent in America since 1990. Nothing has been so essential to the Conservative cause in my lifetime, than breaking the back of that socially imposed mandate. Nothing!

Trump also, has adopted a foreign policy that is very clearly more Conservative than that of most of the Republican Party in this Century. His policy is a 21st Century reflection of the wisdom--the wisdom for the ages--that guided both Washington & Jefferson in their dealings with other peoples.

Additionally, and as a corollary of the above, Trump has restored pride in America--devotion to America and the Americans--as a major approach to all political issues. Anyone who does not see that as true Conservatism, apparently does not believe that it is important to put the interests of your own people, foremost.

Finally, what is really the single most important issue from a Conservative standpoint, in selecting a President? It is surely the preservation of free & independent States--the United States, federated together in the Constitutional Union the Founders achieved, for the stated purposes achieved--by the heroic decisions of 1776 & 1787-89.

How can anyone who accepted those who have compromised those decisions, as candidates in the past, reject Trump, and still claim to be "Conservatives." Is he not manifestly way--way--to the right of those who have prattled about interdependence, diversity, new world orders, etc.;--or who have risked the lives & limbs of young Americans in preposterous "nation building" adventures, in recent decades?!

Former Gov. Tom Ridge (Pa.)

Hasn't he backed Democrats several other times?

Sasse and Cruz appear to be in the vanguard of elitist operatives posing as conservative leaders.

IMO any association with Harvard, Yale, or Columbia ought to be an immediate disqualification for office. The establishment jerks who drove this country to ruin overwhelmingly come with that pedigree - so overwhelmingly that we can no longer ignore it as a warning sign: NOT ONE OF US.

-- I believe Mark Levin said that he will back Trump when Cruz is eliminated. --

In about a 24 hour period, last week or the week before, Levin went from ridiculing #NeverTrump (taking the position you summarized) to being firmly in #NeverTrump. I don't recall what ticked him off to make the switch, but he made it. He's unstable, so who knows what position he'll take today or tomorrow.

When you see those disconnects in stated rationale, it signifies that the real reason for holding a position is being hidden from you.

Harvard boy Sasse is as fake as a $3 bill. He’s got Romney connections going back to his time in Boston, btw.

Ben Sasse can suck it. I never want to see his name in print again.

Well, except for a glowing obituary.

Principle or vanity?

The day I require that a candidate reflect my own views in all cases is the day I put my self above all others and as a result do fight evil...because I find my pride more important.

Sasse goes way back to Romney. Romney even campaigned for him when he ran for Senate. His fraudulent populism is nauseating.

“PIAPS”?

Allahpundit is a douche bag. I just read the whole article. People like him have so much crap in their brains it has totally gummed up the works and they can think as rationally as someone on bath salts.

Someone, above, posted Sasse's academic background, and his bureaucratic activities. He profiles as the type I encountered--collected the figurative scalps of--cloud dancing "do gooders," at Oberlin; who imagined their day-dreaming wish lists would remake the world.

The breed is not known for rational analysis. Whether they hide the reasons that motivate them or not; they are totally unable to defend the resulting positions, when challenged by anyone who understands the contexts of human interaction. I mean, they seriously cannot defend their positions; but they do know how to stick to them, despite that inadequacy.

Trump will bring in either dems, independents and new voters far in excess of how many of the GOPe and others stay home or actively support Hillary.

I believe it will be a huge net positive and he will bring states in play that will shock both the DNC and the GOPe.

I pray this is so. I pray that the November election is a huge win for Trump.

His policies, as he has stated and as they are defined on his web site, if enacted will help turn this nation around.

Ah, now! If I could sucker him into a debate, wouldn't you enjoy seeing him get his comeuppance? An obituary lets him escape an earthly retribution for stupidity.

His need to double down after his side lost, does of course, speak volumes as to his "statesmanship"--such as it is.

It sounded like God was helping Donald just the same. The bible only calls for confession. The Son of God already did the asking, upon the Cross. IIRC, the interview with Donald about this, Donald mentioned the Presbyterian communion with respect to this — which points to the Cross.

This can get into a lot of technicalities and questions such as why does the Lord’s Prayer mention “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” which is referring to forgiveness on a daily scale, i.e. we might become all judgmental one day and see a lot of judgments coming at us as a result, but the next day we might get our attitude right and then we find God treating us more kindly.

Most Christians will directly ask God for forgiveness anyhow, if only because of the Lord’s Prayer and because of conscience, but the technicalities don’t necessarily require it. We’d be doing nothing but mea culpas all day if we were brutally honest about ourselves. This is why Jesus already asked the forgiveness on our behalf. We couldn’t possibly remember to do it every single time it was needed.
